About the Role As the Localization Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing and implementing a localization platform that will automate tools, workflows and processes. You will work on localizing our industry-leading cybersecurity Falcon software product suite and web marketing sites. You’ll partner with internal stakeholders and vendors to automate and deliver timely, high quality translations. The Localization Engineer will work closely with CMS Engineers, Product UI/UX Engineers, and 3rd party translation vendors. We’re a highly collaborative, friendly, inclusive, and diverse group using our collective strengths to deliver a capable and intuitive user experience for our customers. Responsibilities
  • Write, read, and understand code in a variety of programming languages.
  • Design and implement automated end-to-end localization workflows from CMS to TMS and round-trip including file handoffs, translation, localization QA, and multilingual content management for all the target languages.
  • Examine software source code to determine i18n readiness. Provide i18n guidance and provide training to engineers. Answer i18n and l10n technical questions from developers and engineers and support their i18n effort.
  • Partner with UI/UX engineers to resolve problems and issues such as hard-coded strings, RTL enablement, and externalization of all localizable elements for translations.
  • Manage and maintain our TMS Enterprise tool including translation memory and parsing rules. Extract non-translatable content (images, code string etc) from the files.
  • Prepare files for translations and round trip them back to the product, ready for testing. Ensure that all of the files are pulled into the Translation Management System correctly.
  • Set up test environments for linguistic QA, gather test requirements, create test plan and test cases, and manage QA process to ensure product passed all tests required in order to create high quality localized product for each target locale.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, translators, testers, and product managers to achieve a great result together.
  • Manage workload in a fast-paced, highly distributed environment.
  • Some travel for project offsites and team get-togethers.
  • A deep understanding of JavaScript and experience building web application front ends with modern frameworks such as Ember, React, Angular, or Vue
  • Experience with testing frameworks, tools and methodologies such as QUnit or Mocha
  • Comfortable with Git or similar version control systems and workflows
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in l10n and i18n tools and technologies. Familiar with i18n libraries, Unicode CLDR and ICU libraries
  • Knowledge of Translation Management Systems (i.e., Smartling, GlobalLink, SDLX)
  • Knowledge of Content Management Systems (ie., Contentful, Adobe Experience Manager, Directus)
  • Have hands-on, successful implementation of TMS and CMS
  • Understanding of localization best practices and familiarity with common “gotchas” for localization
  • Passion for developing processes, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills
  • Experience tracking and managing multiple projects
  • A desire to work closely with others to deliver quality software and solve problems
  • Empathy and professionalism

  • Experience with machine translation.
  • Proficiency in a second language other than English.
  • Engagement with broader translation/localization communities and attentiveness to evolving industry best practices.
  • Experience in remote-first environments.
