About the position

Building Bright Futures (BBF) works to improve the well-being of children and families.  The Regional Manager will support the BBF Regional Early Childhood Councils in Chittenden, Franklin and Grand Isle regions. Regional Councils serve an important role to convene Early Childhood stakeholders to foster collaboration, improve quality and access of services and use data to inform decision making. The Regional Manager engages partners to collectively build a seamless system experienced by families with a focus on the prenatal period through age eight and beyond. The Regional Manager supports regional council operations, coordinates the implementation of regional action plans, and serves as a liaison between regional partners and the BBF statewide network. The Regional Manager currently oversees the final year of a collective impact grant focusing on improving integration and coordination for families experiencing Substance Use Disorder. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with a proven ability to foster coordination and cooperation among diverse partners, excellent facilitation skills, and who is organized and results-oriented.

 

The Regional Manager position is full-time with a competitive salary and flexible work schedule. Candidates would need to be available for regular meetings and events during the workday and occasional evenings and weekends. When in-person meetings resume, must be able to travel regularly to support the work across Northwestern Vermont and connect with a statewide network. A resident of Franklin, Grand Isle or Chittenden counties is preferred.This is a home-based position with the option to work in BBF’s Williston headquarters. The Regional Manager receives supervision from the Deputy Director.


About Building Bright Futures

Building Bright Futures (BBF) is Vermont’s Early Childhood State Advisory Council (SAC) mandated by Vermont’s Title 33 Chapter 46 and the federal Head Start Act. BBF serves as a statewide backbone organization, bringing early childhood stakeholders together to work collectively toward a coordinated, collaborative, and integrated early childhood system. BBF maintains the vision and strategic plan for Vermont’s Early Childhood System. Vermont’s vision for the Early Childhood system is to be an integrated continuum of comprehensive, high quality services that is equitable and accessible and will improve outcomes for each child in the prenatal period to age eight and their family in Vermont. BBF has a multi-tiered infrastructure consisting of 12 Regional Councils and seven committees that move the Vermont Early Childhood Action Plan (VECAP) forward; both of which inform the priorities and recommendations from the SAC. This network links community-based and state level planning and program development with the SAC.


Responsibilities Include:

 Regional Managers serve as an ambassador for the mission, vision, and work of the BBF network infrastructure. They promote the importance of early childhood and connect people and resources. They serve as the liaison between regional and state teams to communicate regional priorities, gaps and needs experienced by children, families and partners. BBF has 4 Regional Managers who work closely with both the BBF team and Council members to support Regional Council operations (planning meetings, communications, monitoring progress toward regional action plan, grant deliverables and spending).


  • Convene and strengthen council operations in Chittenden, Franklin and Grand Isle regions
  • Promote the importance of early childhood and help build community awareness of the Regional Council and needs of children and families
  • Convene Regional Councils bi-monthly as the go-to resource for the early childhood system to be a connector among partners and help with system navigation. Work with Council partners to use data to inform strategy and maintain a regional action plan.
  • Ensure high quality, inclusive and effective council meetings that convene bi-monthly that promote information sharing and bridge building. Create a culture that fosters investigation of dominant structures and paradigms that traditionally inform inequitable policies, decision making, and priority setting
  • Identify gaps and needs experienced by children, families and partners in the region and engage the Councils and BBF Network 
  • Empower and elevate families as leaders and partners in the Council and across the BBF network
  • Provide consistent and effective communication with council members
  • Maintain Regional Action Plans as the shared vision that informs action and accountability. Ensure strategies are aligned with the Vermont Early Childhood Action Plan  
  • Coordinate Substance Use Disorder grant and support other select projects that promote Regional Action Plan strategies 


  • Promote understanding, utilization and alignment of the BBF Network 
  • Serve as the liaison between regional and state teams to communicate regional priorities, gaps and needs experienced by children, families and partners (through participation in meetings, written updates, blogs, social media posts, etc.) 
  • Represent regional priorities, voice and strategies when regional partners cannot be present
  • Serve as an ambassador for the mission, vision, and work of BBF
  • Build trusting relationships and serve as a dependable partner
  • Support efforts to improve systems that monitor data informed policy advisement (model how to use data in Council meetings, monitor progress toward action plan priorities, outline data gaps, and support data collection)
  • Actively engage with the BBF team to align efforts across the network (i.e. VECAP, SAC meetings, cross regional meetings, Slack and email)
  • Align key statewide strategies with regional action plan and support regional implementation


Desired Expertise

  • Excellent public speaking, facilitation, verbal and written communication skills
  • Commitment to improving child and family outcomes and strong knowledge of public service systems.
  • Bachelor's Degree in child, youth and family policy, community development or a related field preferred
  • Experience building relationships and convening diverse stakeholders and underrepresented populations, encouraging collaborating and implementation of strategies that maximize the impact of resources and supporting strategic planning efforts.
  • Candidates should be very flexible, self-motivated and be able to work independently, take initiative, and exercise self-directed problem-solving.
  • Basic understanding of data literacy and analysis to support decision-making
  • Experience with technology that supports collaborative and virtual work, including Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Slack and Zoom.
