Executive Director


Goal of Position:

The Executive Director is responsible for leading fundraising initiatives such as events, grant writing, and cultivating individual donors; volunteer and athlete recruitment; board development; and program execution (including session planning and organization, volunteer training, session leading, parent and volunteer communication, and all other aspects required for successful operation of KEENā€™s weekend programs programs), in coordination with the KEEN LA Board of Directors and a part-time Program Coordinator.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ā Leads the development, direction and evaluation of fundraising activities including acquisition of new donors, corporate support, special events, and grants.
  • Plans, organizes, directs and evaluates program activities to meet goals. Responsible for maintaining quality of existing programs and expanding program offerings.
  • Supervises the Program Coordinator to maintain excellent standards in all KEEN LA programs.
  • Utilizes and maintains and a database of athlete and volunteer information.
  • Implements best practices to attract, train and recognize volunteers.
  • Develops, directs and implements public relations and communication strategies to support program goals and increase community awareness of programs.
  • Recruits and coordinates interns to assist with the operational tasks of the organization.
  • Works closely with board members to grow and leverage the capacity of the Board of Directors in service of the organization.
  • Position requires regular attendance at weekend KEEN weekend sessions throughout the year.
  • Maintains communication with KEEN USA Executive Director, Development Director, and Manager of Finance. Attends monthly national staff calls with KEEN USA and Affiliates, and annual national staff meetings as indicated.

Qualifications:

  • 4-year Bachelors Degree (inĀ Social Services, Education or aĀ relatedĀ fieldĀ preferred)
  • At least 2 years of fundraising experience
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task while prioritizing and accomplishing goals
  • Established and active social and personal networks in the greater Los Angeles Area
  • Experience working with and coordinating volunteers
  • Experience in the non-profit 501(c)(3) sector (working with children with disabilities a plus)
  • StrongĀ organizational,Ā interpersonalĀ andĀ writing skills
  • Excellent computer skills including social media
  • Creativity, dedication and an ability to excel in an autonomous environment
  • Bi-lingualĀ (English/Spanish)Ā a plus
