Housing and Land Justice Campaign Director

The Partnership for Working Families is a national network that is organizing to create quality jobs and healthy, thriving communities in major cities across the country. Together with our 20 affiliates, the Partnership is driving a progressive agenda to harness the economic power of cities and influence billions of  dollars in public and private investment. Our powerful coalitions of community groups, labor unions, faith networks and environmental organizations are tackling the crises of inequality and climate change that is disproportionately impacting low-income communities of color and women.

The Partnership is seeking a visionary and passionate organizer to lead a new housing and land justice campaign.

Background

The Partnership and its primarily women-of-color-led affiliates have a deep and continuing history of pathbreaking housing justice work. That includes fighting and limiting displacement, protecting and expanding the supply of decent, safe, community-controlled affordable housing and preserving public land for public good. Our affiliates have organized direct membership and coalitions and won measures in cities across the country including tenant protections, limits on short term rentals, inclusionary set-asides, housing trust funds and public land protections. We have organized together and with national allies to drive resources toward local organizing and campaigns and coordinate with national organizing networks to support that field. Our national staff holds expertise on housing justice law and policy, campaign strategy and communications and close understanding of the power of cities to shift conditions.

With new resources and ally relationships to support our work, and in the face of a looming eviction and speculation crisis, we are poised to build out a transformative campaign that drives toward housing and land as community-controlled social goods, not commodities, and builds the base necessary to realize that vision.
