Since 1980, NAF has been partnering with high-need communities to improve outcomes for students by implementing NAF academies – small learning communities within existing high schools. NAF has grown from one NAF Academy of Finance in New York City to hundreds of academies across the country focusing on growing industries including: finance, hospitality & tourism, information technology, engineering, and health sciences. During the 2020-2021 school year, over 117,000 students attended 619 NAF academies across 37 states, plus DC, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. In 2020, NAF academies reported 99% of seniors graduated with 87% of graduates planning to go to college.

Summary: 

The primary function of the Network Development Team is to work with school districts implement the NAF educational design with high fidelity. Local relationships are maintained by portfolio managers, who provide specialized support to meet site specific needs. The NAF education design includes four elements; academy development, curriculum, work-based learning and advisory boards. 


The Manager, Work-Based Learning serves as the liaison between the Network Development Team and with the Corporate Engagement and Relations team to develop, implement, and support strategies to increase high quality work-based learning experiences at the local level.


This role requires an individual with knowledge of NAF’s educational design and experience in the public sector and/or industry. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, detail-oriented, strong communicator, can manage multiple projects simultaneously, and has a proven track record of effective collaboration and project management. 


In this position, the Manager will support and track results and outcomes when implementing quality work-based learning opportunities, programs, trainings, and resources. Performance will be measure against goals and task as well as key competencies, such as communication, relationship, and project management.    


 Travel required regionally and nationally – normally approximately 40%. Office location can be either in the New York City corporate office or from a home office. Due to COVID restrictions travel is temporarily suspended and all activities/position functions will be done remotely until further notice.


Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:

Work-Based Learning Support—District-Level Support (60%)

Work collaboratively to plan, develop, and implement high-quality and impactful work-based learning programs and resources at the local level, including trainings; improve and track performance indicators such as student impact numbers and stakeholder feedback in work-based learning programs and resources.

Resource Development and Maintenance (30%)

Work independently and cross functionally to draft, update, review, and edit tools, resources, and templates for use in work-based learning elements of the NAF educational design and to support student college and career readiness.

 Operations support (10%)

Expense and outcome reporting in support of department activities and goals.

 Educational/Training Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in education and/or business field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Experience:

  • Experience with project management with multiple stakeholders
  • Knowledge of and experience with NAF’s educational design
  • Experience developing templates and resources
  • Project management and relationship management skills
  • Experience with developing and providing trainings

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of work-based learning best practices and familiarity with internships
  • Proactive and goal-oriented
  • Problem-solver who can overcome obstacles
  • Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
