About This Role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic NYC-based program manager, able to work remotely for now, with extraordinary project management skills, an educational background, and some STEM experience. This individual will support 40-45 teachers at 17 schools around NYC to implement Mouse’s Design League program with their students. Experience with teaching is preferred and knowledge and comfort using hybrid/remote learning management systems and video conferencing tools.

This role will help teachers:

  • Use and integrate the Design League curriculum within their classes;
  • Access online resources;
  • Communicate and coordinate activities with Mouse and the NYC Department of Education;
  • Schedule individualized coaching sessions with Mouse trainers;
  • Track of and report on school progress using data from teachers and from Mouse’s learning management system. 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

This position reports to the Senior Director of Program Management. 

Program Operations and Management

  • Manage the collection, organization, and updating of any partner account records
  • Maintain comprehensive educator records and produce reports as required
  • Maintain the operations infrastructure necessary to push forward the program process
  • Demonstrate reliability and punctuality by arriving on-time for scheduled meetings and completing supervisory responsibilities in a timely and thorough manner
  • Design & implement additional program deliverables, events, or projects as needed

Teacher Coaching and Community Building

  • Coach, support, and monitor 40-45 teachers
  • Willingness to learn human-centered design and UX/UI curricula
  • Communicate directly with teachers and school administrators
  • Organize and schedule coaching sessions with teachers
  • Provide support to teachers on using the digital learning platform Mouse Create
  • Monitor monthly goals to support educators 
  • Value and promote social and cultural diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Engage with attendees electronically in advance of professional development
  • Foster a safe and welcoming in-person environment; answer questions with respect and openness

Program Events Planning

  • Support the planning, outreach, and facilitation of program-wide Design League events, including live and asynchronous events for students and/or teachers.
  • Coordinate with teachers and administrators at each school to plan and host student project fairs in May
  • Communicate with NYC Department of Education district partners to recruit volunteers for program events

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR IN A CANDIDATE

  • A deep and personal commitment to learners and educators.
  • You have experience as an educator (formally or informally) and are able to lead a portfolio of educators to growth and success.
  • Experience with applied STEM, design, and/or computer science content, particularly in an educational setting. 
  • Experience and/or interest in social justice, anti-racist pedagogy
  • You’re a stellar communicator – both written and verbal – and people coach. You have excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, including the capacity to coordinate details, multi-task and generate creative solutions
  • Highly organized with excellent project management and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small or large team
  • Tech skills required: experience with the Google Apps Suite (docs, slides, and sheets), experience using and facilitating meetings with video conferencing tools (like Zoom, Google Meet, etc). 
  • Tech skills preferred: experience with Slack or other productivity, collaboration and contact management tools
  • The profile for this position suits individuals with a college degree plus at least two years of related experience. We value alternative pathways to post-secondary education, and will also consider applicants with demonstrated equivalent experience.
