SUMMARY OF POSITION


Teaching Lab seeks a Math Content Manager to join our Content Development team to lead the design of high-quality, curriculum-aligned virtual professional learning experiences for teachers and schools implementing high quality instructional materials (HQIM) for grades K-5.


Eligible candidates must have strong K-5 mathematics content area expertise; experience in designing professional learning content, especially for virtual implementation; and knowledge and experience with HQIM for K-5 Math and the associated Common Core or similar College- and Career-Ready state standards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Content Manager will engage in five major workstreams:

  1. Professional Learning Content Development: Execute on Teaching Lab’s vision and strategy for K-5 Mathematics professional learning content development to build high-quality, research-based, user-centered professional learning content that is adaptable for a virtual environment (e.g., utilizing a learning management system, virtual facilitation tools, etc.).
  2. Project management: Support the execution of project plans that ensure the continued development of high-quality, research-based, user-centered professional learning content and allow for contextualization and adaptation of core content to meet partner needs.
  3. Learning and Research: Keep abreast of current field research and best practices in math, with regard to HQIM and virtual professional learning design.
  4. Collaboration: Engage in learning and community experiences, and team meetings with the Teaching Lab Community to ensure a sense of connection and cohesion across the Teaching Lab team. Contribute to a culture of collaboration with colleagues within and across teams, external stakeholders, district leaders, and professional learning organizations, to ensure success for our school system partners and the students they serve. 
  5. Facilitation: Effectively lead professional learning sessions for district leaders, school leaders, and teachers that deepen pedagogical content knowledge, content area knowledge, and knowledge of the high-quality curriculum through Teaching Lab’s model for professional learning. Reflect on participant feedback and adjust support in response to partners’ needs. Teaching Lab will be leading all professional learning sessions virtually through July 2021 with a possibility of shifting to in-person professional learning for the 2021-2022 school year.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Work Experience, and Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Minimum 5 years experience working in PK-12 education
  • Minimum of 3 years teaching K-5 mathematics with students from traditionally underserved backgrounds with demonstrated evidence of impact
  • Experience implementing HQIM or coaching others to implement HQIM for K-5 Mathematics, with a strong preference for those candidates with experience and knowledge of Illustrative Mathematics K-5 or Zearn Math K-5 
  • Experience designing and facilitating impactful professional learning for educators, preferably in a virtual environment
  • Experience with tools for virtual instruction and PL delivery such as Learning Management Systems
  • Deep knowledge and experience with Common Core or College- and Career-Ready Math standards
  • Deep content area expertise in K-5 mathematics
  • Deep understanding of HQIM in Math, specifically Illustrative Mathematics K-5 or Zearn Math K-5, including its design and component parts

All roles at Teaching Lab are contingent on business needs.

Teaching Lab offers a comprehensive benefits package for full-time salaried employees, including: organizational contribution of 100% employee costs and 50% of dependent costs for health, dental, and vision insurance; a 401(k) program with a 4% employer match; technology equipment; monthly technology reimbursement; and generous time off and leave policies.

This position is eligible for remote work anywhere in the continental United States, and may require some travel when travel resumes.
