If/When/How: Lawyering for Reproductive Justice transforms the law and policy landscape through advocacy, support, and organizing so all people have the power to determine if, when, and how to define, create, and sustain families with dignity and to actualize sexual and reproductive wellbeing on their own terms. We are the leading-edge reproductive justice lawyering organization on the ground, representing people in crisis, reshaping law, and making just policy as we build a stronger, progressive base of legal stakeholders invested in these issues and networked to one another. 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

We seek a nimble and self-directed web and technology whiz with outstanding problem-solving (and problem-anticipating) skills. The Communications and Technology Associate will serve as webmaster and web developer, maintaining and managing If/When/How’s websites and online resources with our Communications team; will support our Development, Operations, and Programs teams to ensure a smooth user experience for donors, funders, and community members who avail themselves of our online resources; and will support and implement external-facing tech solutions and initiatives across teams. The Communications and Technology Associate will also provide light IT support and troubleshooting assistance for staff with guidance from the Technology Director. The ideal candidate will be committed to thinking creatively and responsively about how If/When/How can maximize our impact and effectiveness in the online and tech spheres to advance the movement for reproductive justice. 


COMPENSATION: $60,000-70,000/year depending on experience


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·      Maintain If/When/How’s web presences (including IfWhenHow.org, Repro Legal Helpline, JB Wiki, RJLN Community, and our online store, as well as future sites and resources) and ensure they are user-friendly and bug-free (with Communications team)

·      Manage the creation of a website supporting If/When/How’s Legal Defense Fund (with Communications and Legal & Policy teams)

·      Implement SEO and SEM optimization for If/When/How’s online properties to grow If/When/How’s audiences and communities (with Communications team)

·      Maintain and configure website integrations with Salesforce and point-of-sale systems (such as Click-and-Pledge) (with Communications, Operations, and Development teams)

·      Support community and constituency network management needs (with Movement Building Team)

·      Provide IT support for external communications and programming, such as webinars (with Communications, Movement Building, and Legal & Policy teams) 

·      Provide IT support for internal operations, such as software and security updates and maintenance (with Operations team)


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

·      One to three years’ experience as a webmaster or web developer in a small company or non-profit setting

·      Familiarity with web standards and new developments and trends in information technology

·      Strong proficiency in working with online publishing platforms, preferably Wordpress

·      Strong proficiency with web analytics, SEO, and SEM

·      Strong proficiency in HTML/CSS, XML; knowledge of SQL and Javascript preferred

·      Proficiency with Salesforce a must, proficiency with other CRM software and platforms a plus

·      Knowledge of and experience implementing and improving online security standards and protocols

·      Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

·      BSc/BA in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience (degree not required)

·      In addition to strong proficiency with Salesforce and POS integrations, we seek strong proficiency with Box, Podio, and G suite; and workplace apps including Slack and Google apps.

·      Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.


ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to Communications Director and works closely with the Communications Associate and Operations and Development teams. Collaborates with Legal & Policy and Movement Building Teams on web and technology needs and support.


WORK ENVIRONMENT: If/When/How maintains a virtual office and supports remote working and flexible work days. Applicants must reside in the United States. Reimbursements for co-working spaces and home office equipment and supplies are available. Occasionally, employees may be expected to be available during off-hours and/or to attend events (e.g., conferences, staff retreats) on nights or weekends.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Most work will be done at a computer [although attending conferences may require transporting materials and ability to carry 10 lbs]. Requires typing and participating in meetings (live and virtual). Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these and other essential functions. 

 

TRAVEL: Travel twice yearly within the continental U.S. is required upon the resumption of normal travel post-COVID pandemic. Additional travel may be required to support teamwork and attend staff retreats, conferences, and professional development opportunities.
