Biomedical Research Training and Education Program Manager


Overview


The Biomedical Research Training and Education Program Manager is an essential part of the Black AIDS Institute (BAI) national team and provides administrative and programmatic leadership for community engagement programs focused on clinical research and medical mistrust. Responsibilities include planning, coordinating and executing various activities to support community and workforce knowledge of biomedical research methods and pipeline related to HIV prevention, treatment, and cure, as well as COVID-19 vaccine development.


Reporting to the Director of National Programs, the Biomedical Research Training and Education Program Manager has the primary responsibility for advancing the advocacy, research literacy, and community education activities related to clinical trials. The position leads BAI’s community engagement and educational needs for HIV vaccine research and COVID-19 prevention research.

This is a full-time position. Some weekend and evening hours will be required. Travel may be required.

Agency-wide Duties and Responsibilities:

Position Specific Duties/Responsibilities:

·     Lead BAI’s efforts to engage black people in HIV and COVID-19 research, primarily through the development of educational materials (including reports, handouts, webinars, slides, and surveys).

·     Coordinate community consultations including the development of agendas, content, materials, facilitation, logistics, project administration, and outreach, as needed

·     Participate in working group meetings related to community engagement and advocacy on HIV and COVID-19 research

·     Collaborate with other BAI departments as part of the BAI leadership team to ensure cohesiveness and excellence in overall program development and execution


Preferred Professional Qualifications:

•        A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in an office setting related to health equity, social justice, research & development, and/or HIV or other infectious diseases;

•        Willingness to learn about new, technical subject matters without getting intimidated;

•        Ability to travel significantly (up to 50% travel-time required)

•        Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel/Access/PowerPoint/Outlook

•        Exemplary ability to manage multiple tasks using independent judgment and discretion

•        Ability to work independently and accurately in a high-paced, deadline-oriented environment

•        Ability to work under pressure while exercising discretionary judgment; make decisions when necessary with minimal direct supervision; work remotely without supervisory accompaniment


Physical and Sensory Requirements:

●      Ability to read, write and converse in English

●      Ability to communicate efficiently with staff, stakeholders, and vendors

●      Ability to remain calm and composed under stress

●      Bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing/pulling, and/or prolonged sitting/standing

●      Ability to respond to telephones and other auditory stimulation

●      Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements)

●      Ability to evaluate/interpret information and make independent judgments/decisions
