National Senior Manager, Web Developer 🔥


The American Lung Association has a great opportunity for a National Senior Manager, Web Developer to join our incredible team in Chicago, IL. Working as a member of the Information Technology Team, you will join an outstanding group of professionals dedicated to our mission: to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through research, education, and advocacy.  

In this role, you will be working alongside a team of other web developers to create, maintain, and update our websites and achieve our organization’s digital goals. The ideal candidate for this position is a hands-on professional with strong knowledge of content management platforms, and the ability to translate the organization’s business needs into user-friendly, visual appealing digital experiences. The Web Developer will need to be proficient in ASP.net/VB.net/C#, Visual Studio, SQL, HTML/HTML5, JQuery, Javascript (including Vue.js), CSS, and have solid knowledge and experience in programming applications. Serves as knowledge base resource for other Web Developers.

Responsibilities

Web Development    

  • Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices.
  • Apply knowledge of cross-browser compatibility, standard web functions, and UI as digital projects are designed and developed.
  • Integrate data from various back-end services and databases.
  • Leverage the underlying platform architecture to collect data insights based on visitor behavior.
  • Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs.
  • Create and maintain software documentation.
  • Be responsible for maintaining, expanding, and scaling the organization’s digital properties.
  • Stay up to date on emerging technologies and industry trends, and apply them into operations and activities.
  • Cooperate with web designers to match visual design intent.
  • Ensure the quality and low bug rates of code released into production.

Project Management/Technical Support    

  • Provide technical support and production assistance for staff members located across the country.
  • Collaborate with cross-divisional staff to implement digital campaign assets, which align with overarching strategic goals.
  • Manage projects tasks, timelines, and communications. Communicate project status and deliverables to internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with management or development teams to prioritize needs, resolve conflicts, develop content criteria, or choose solutions.
  • Act as liaison between national office, local staff, and outside vendors when required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in web development, computer science, or a related field preferred. Additional certification from a coding school or academy a plus.
  • At least five years of experience (seven years if no degree) as a web developer working with a variety of coding languages, such as HTML/XHTML, HTML5, CSS, JQuery (including Vue.js), JavaScript, Ruby on Rails, and C#.
  • At least two years of experience using integrated development environments such as Visual Studio (2012/2013/2015), .NET 4.0/4.5 framework, ASP .NET, and MVC.
  • Experience with database systems such as SQL.
  • A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices.
  • Demonstrated understanding of how a mobile user experience differs from a web application.
  • Understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, general web functions and standards.
  • Basic knowledge of Search Engine Optimization process.
  • Basic knowledge of Google Analytics/Google Tag Manager
  • Aggressive problem diagnosis and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Possesses exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Has the ability to build strategic relationships. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate directly with peers, managers, and clients/stakeholders while leading development to a completed and successful solution.
  • Strong organization skills to manage multiple timelines and complete tasks quickly within the constraints of timelines and budgets.
  • Ability to work effectively and independently on concurrent tasks and projects. Is a self-motivator.
