Forensic Engineer 🔥

Job Summary

We are expanding our team of forensic engineers to develop and push the envelope of media and content forensic capabilities within our platform to better enable brands, rights holders, and digital-asset managers to manage and protect their media assets. We are looking for engineers with experience implementing digital watermarking / finger printing technologies and expertise verifying the authenticity and integrity of media assets using a variety of methods. Team members will have the space and time to dive deeply into the inner workings of media files of all types in order to extract out and report on forensics information. You will get to develop new techniques, create datasets, and implement the latest forensics research to develop new or enhance existing methods to verify authenticity, integrity, and provenance of media assets. You can leverage our world class engineering team to automate and maintain what you find so that you can focus on the most interesting problems.

Forensics engineers should be comfortable performing a variety of tasks from evaluating the robustness of a digital watermark / signature to pulling up a hex editor to really understand where data and metadata originates. Successful candidates will be comfortable scripting up a program to extract and present that data.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Uncover. Whether you’re looking at a new kind of media file or diving into a nuance of one we’ve looked at, you’ll become expert at understanding that data.

  • Organize. Your organizational skills are key to keeping track of what we’ve looked at before and how we look at the next device, app, or media file.

  • Script. Repeatability is the key to our success; you’ll need to automate the extraction of data that you find, mostly using Python and linking command line tools, which our software developers put into production.

  • Explain. You’ll need to be able to explain what you’ve found, what it means for our team internally, and how it might impact our customers.

  • Day-to-day: Work on finding new data, understand new devices, automate what you’ve found, help interpret results, reach out for help in person or on Slack, just let everyone know what you're working on. Work from home when that works better for you.

  • R&D is the future of the company. What we accomplish today will be in the next generation of our products.
