Program Coordinator - Marketing and Education 🔥
3GDC is seeking a part-time Program Coordinator to help us grow our operations, with a strong focus on organizing educational opportunities, managing our database of trained speakers, assisting with communications, and staffing occasional in-person events.
This candidate will ideally be located in the DC metro area.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct outreach to schools and community groups in the DC-MD-VA area and beyond for the purpose of creating new opportunities for 3GDC speakers to share their families’ Holocaust testimony;
- Coordinate and schedule volunteer-speaker opportunities in schools and other community venues;
- Maintain accurate records of volunteers, schools, and presentations conducted by 3GDC volunteers;
- Draft and post 3GDC information and resources on our website and social-media channels, under the supervision of the Communications Chair;
- Assist with setting up, staffing, and breaking down occasional in-person events around the DC-MD-VA area;
- Other responsibilities, as determined in consultation with the President and Board of Directors.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will:
- Display a strong commitment to Holocaust education and the mission of 3GDC;
- Be highly organized and possess excellent written- and oral-communication skills;
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Zoom, and major social-media platforms;
- Hold a college degree (or be nearing the the completion of a degree);
- Possess strong interpersonal skills useful in greeting community members at events and helping to build relationships on behalf of the organization.
Hours, Pay, Location:
The position will be part-time, up to ten hours per week with potential for growth, at $20-25/hour, commensurate with experience. The Program Coordinator will work remotely, and preference will be given to candidates with the ability to staff events in person in the DC-MD-VA area when needed. Ideally, the position would begin in November 2023.
About 3GDC:
3GDC, founded in 2011 and relaunched as a registered non-profit in 2020, is a growing organization serving the DC-MD-VA region. We are grandchildren of Holocaust survivors and refugees (“3G’s”), and we engage the wider community through education, remembrance, advocacy, and innovative programming to help tell our families’ stories and keep the lessons of the Holocaust alive and resonant. We lead the region’s central Yom HaShoah remembrance program each year at Sixth & I, in coordination with JCRC and other organizations, and we host social events that foster community and build connections among families of survivors that help us carry out our mission. Our first-of-its-kind podcast, “30 Minutes with a 3G,” has brought the stories of Holocaust survivors and their descendents to a broad new audience. Like other organizations of its kind, though, 3GDC’s main focus continues to be training 3G speakers and arranging opportunities for them to share their grandparents’ testimony direction with the next generation in schools and other venues across the region.
