Exhibition Marketing Associate
International Arts & Artists (IA&A), a nonprofit arts service organization based in Washington,
DC, is seeking an entry-level Exhibitions Marketing Associate to fulfill dual roles in its Traveling
Exhibition Service department:
1. Market a portfolio of traveling exhibitions available for booking by art museums and
cultural heritage institutions of varying size and scope across the United States and
internationally.
2. The exhibition management work will consist of marketing to an assigned set of states
with an extensive list of both established and prospective museum partners, which will
require a high degree of persistence, interpersonal skills, and professionalism. In
addition the selected candidate will manage select states and contacts in IA&A’s
Salesforce database, and contribute to the development and refinement of internal and
external procedures and policy as the organization evolves and navigates the post-Covid
museum field. All work will be conducted under the supervision of the Curator and
Director of Traveling Exhibitions.
3. Maintain and refine IA&A’s Salesforce sales and marketing database system.
4. The selected candidate will have a balance of marketing savvy, a passion for art, strong
organizational skills, curatorial aptitude, thoroughness, diligence, and a strong desire
and ability to work collaboratively internally and externally with both institutions and
individuals. The ability to initiate contact and develop relationships with a range of
stakeholders, and active engagement in the art museum/visual arts field are essential.
Visual acuity and a comprehensive grasp of exhibition content and concepts are also
desired.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate holds at least a Bachelor’s degree, with specialization in the arts,
administration, exhibitions and events, or related fields, and 2-5 years of professional
experience. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in auctions, sales or
direct-marketing.
This position requires very strong verbal and written communication skills, a high level of
comfort speaking with people on the phone, diligence, a positive demeanor, and excellent
attention to detail. The candidate has the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
and is forward thinking and enthusiastic in addition to being analytical and a problem-solver.
The ideal candidate must be highly motivated and passionate about the arts, and able to
manage multiple, diverse projects simultaneously.
The salary for this position is $42,000 to $45,000/year plus a commission structure, depending
on qualifications. IA&A offers a generous leave schedule, a well-subsidized employee’s health

person in this position may occasionally be required to work outside of regular work hours
including occasional evenings and weekends. This position can be remote, in person at our
Washington DC office, or hybrid.
