Bronx Program Manager
Unlocking Futures is committed to disrupting the persistent cycle of generational poverty in underprivileged and marginalized communities. With over three decades of experience, our mission revolves around empowering each individual youth to take ownership of their lives, choices, and future prospects. We engage youth aged 12 to 24 with our "Curriculum of Possibilities," centered on fostering self-transformation, goal setting, and dismantling detrimental psychosocial conditioning to cultivate profound self-worth. Our evidence-based programs consistently yield tangible positive results, including enhanced academic achievement and heightened self-esteem. We emphasize nurturing self-awareness, self-efficacy, and alternative thinking to equip young individuals with the courage to break free from negative cognitive and behavioral patterns and self-imposed limitations.
In 2024, Unlocking Futures will roll out an enhanced program to meet an alarming need we recently observed first hand: many Bronx college freshman who start out with ambitions to be first generation college graduates are on academic probation at the end of their first semester. In fact, they were not mentally ready for college. Our Bronx College Bound program will coach students to become cognitively ready for college, matriculate at the college of their choice, and avoid academic probation and consequential feelings of failure in their first and second semesters of college.
Unlocking Futures is currently seeking a Half Time Program Manager who is passionate about improving the educational opportunities for youth. The PM will help create a new transformative program in the Bronx, and then be the main point of communication with program participants and their parents/guardians in the new Bronx College Bound program. Since this is a new position, there is room for the new PM to establish ownership of the program implementation and create relationships with new partners, and share responsibility and pride for outcomes. The ideal candidate has implemented and organized youth or education-related programs in the Bronx or other urban environments, and can demonstrate results.
