Contracted Grants Consultant

Fiver is seeking a grant-writer to increase the number of proposals and applications our development team is able to complete on a monthly basis. This position will report to Fiver’s Development Manager. As a contracted position, the grant writer will work from home and meet with their supervisor and/or key staff on a monthly basis. We are seeking a candidate who can dedicate at least 20 hours, but no more than 30 hours, per month to this role.
Responsibilities:
• Become familiar with Fiver programs, prospecting needs, and language used in
grants
• Research grant opportunities from local corporate, family, and private foundations
that are in alignment with Fiver programs
• Draft grant applications, proposals, and reports based on funding requirements of
the organization, and submit to Development Manager and/or Executive Director in
accordance with deadlines
• Coordinate regular meetings with Fiver’s Deputy Executive Director, and
programmatic staff as needed, to gather information necessary for proposals,
applications, and reports
Qualifications:
• Excellent knowledge of proposal submission and fundraising process, and track
record of successful grant submissions
• Ability to study and understand programs and funding requirements of the
organization
• Strong research, multitasking, organizational, and time management skills
• Familiarity with youth development funders in New York
