Communications Manager


Organization Overview: Service Never Sleeps’ (SNS) vision is a world where equal rights, justice, and opportunity are available to all. We are a Black-led organization that seeks to empower individuals and communities to catalyze social justice through service and Allyship. The organization delivers its signature Allyship curriculum to help individuals leverage areas of privilege to advance racial justice as a way of life and helps organizations deepen their Allyship commitments. The organization is based in Alexandria and focused on creating systems change in the DC-metro area and beyond.

Position Overview: SNS seeks an experienced communications professional to spend 15-20 hours per month developing content for our channels in line with the organization’s fundraising goals. Comfort speaking through an equity lens is critical for the role. This is a remote position.

Contract Term and Compensation: This is a contract role with an estimated output of 15-20 hours per month. Compensation is set at $45 per hour and the role would be for a one-year term. No further benefits will be offered as part of this contract position.

Expected Duties:

a. Developing monthly newsletter

b. Donor outreach to engage and further cultivate segmented donor groups

c. Managing weekly social media presence for the organization entailing:

  • Ongoing race equity education, current events, heritage month celebration
  • Allyship participant and partner organization testimonials
  • Promotion of upcoming SNS training opportunities

d. Website

  • Developing web content around new program launch and performing ad-hoc updates
  • Managing organization’s Google Adword account to drive online engagement 

e. Grant research/application support
