Full Stack Geospatial Developer
The Robert Schalkenbach Foundation seeks a part-time Full Stack Geospatial Developer to join the our team with a focus on our research program, Resource Justice. In this role, you will be responsible for cleaning, analyzing, and extracting features from data, developing ETL pipelines, as well as developing web-based GIS applications. You will also be responsible for maintaining existing web-based GIS applications. Work can be done remotely and during your preferred working hours (meeting project deadlines is critical, of course). Attendance at weekly, one hour (virtual) staff meeting is required.
Essential Qualifications:
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in GIS, geography, computer science, data science, or related fieldĀ
- Education or work experience with geospatial data using the following: Python, JavaScript, and SQL
- Experience performing spatial analysis using Esriās ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, QGIS, or other open source tools
- Ability to work independently with strong organizational, time management, and analytical skills
Other Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in web development, particularly React.js framework
- Experience with developing ETL pipelines for geospatial data
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (particularly EC2 and S3)
- Experience with PostgreSQL and PostGIS
- Expertise in Pandas and GeoPandas
- Experience with machine learning
Responsibilities:
- Design, development, and maintenance of geospatial applications from concept through implementation phases
- Design, implement, and maintain ETL pipelines that integrate geospatial and non-geospatial data from multiple sources
- Be well-informed with latest developments in GIS; recommend new technologies and techniques for application development
- Read and write technical documentation
- May assist in regression analysis, especially for spatial regression
- May assist in creating content summarizing research/data for social media
