MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR


Mission The mission of Shomer Collective is to improve end-of-life experiences for individuals and their families— inspired by Jewish wisdom, values, and practices—by curating content and resources and building a diverse network of organizational partners. 


Vision We envision a world where end-of-life matters are spoken about openly, thoughtfully, and frequently, creating opportunities for many more people to engage with Jewish wisdom, values, and practices. These conversations and experiences can be transformational, having an impact not only on the person who is dying but on whole family and community systems.


Who We Are Founded in 2020, Shomer Collective is a nimble start-up currently incubated by Natan; Natan is a well-established giving circle with a successful track record of launching new initiatives. 


As a concierge, curator, convener, and change agent, we help:

  • Empower individuals as they plan for and/or confront death for themselves and loved ones
  • Make Jewish wisdom and expertise in end-of-life matters more accessible 
  • Spark innovation and culture change inside and beyond Jewish institutions

We support individuals and professionals directly and also work with organizational partners. 

We are currently seeking a f/t staffer to join our small and energetic team, to focus on all things messaging and communications with our various audiences. 


Who You Are You love helping a small idea gain big exposure. You are curious about the ways in which we can live well in the face of mortality, guided by Jewish wisdom. You are comfortable in interdenominational and interfaith settings. You are flexible, patient, and willing to perform all of the tasks associated with running mar/com in a start-up organization. You know how to keep to brand standards and also appeal to specific audiences. You know how to both measure the success of marketing campaigns and provide analytical insight into improving them. You are comfortable in a community management role in social media, acting as a brand ambassador on behalf of Shomer Collective.

What You’ll Do 

Social Media

  • Develop & manage content and relationships on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn (paid and organic)
  • Manage, monitor and engage at a community management level in various Facebook groups on behalf of Shomer Collective
  • Track and measure the success of social media strategies and engagement
  • Support short video creation for sharing on social media 

Marketing & Design

  • Create marketing materials for virtual and in-person events utilizing tools like Canva  
  • Develop compelling marketing documents with relevant graphics for use in fundraising campaigns 
  • Ensure brand consistency of all marketing materials and content

Newsletter Communications

  • Develop content, strategy and manage bi-monthly mailchimp newsletters in partnership with Shomer Collective team 
  • Manage audience engagement, including managing participant database in Airtable
  • Develop and monitor success of drip marketing campaigns for audience engagement
  • Develop segmentation strategy for various audiences, eg: donors and prospects

Website

  • Manage Squarespace website updates in partnership with Shomer Collective Team
  • Optimize website for SEO 
  • Monitor website engagement and implement changes to improve user experience
  • Create and manage Google Ads campaigns to drive website traffic 
  • Utilize analytical tools like Google Analytics to adjust strategies accordingly
  • Partner with the Shomer Collective team to imagine future website growth

Your Skills & Experience 

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience; Jewish community and/or advocacy background helpful
  • Strong understanding of social media, newsletter and website strategy, metrics, analysis, and SEO best practices
  • Excellent copywriting, communication, and graphic design skills
  • Strong, self-directed organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects at once
  • Comfort around learning new technologies and growing your expertise
  • Comfortable engaging with niche audiences and discussing sensitive topics 
  • Experience with Google Suite, Canva, Mailchimp, Squarespace, and Airtable a plus
  • Comfort in fast-paced startup environments

Salary and Benefits This is a full-time position, currently remote, with the potential for in-person work in New York City. Occasional evening and Sunday meetings. Compensation will be within a range of $55,000-$65,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, generous paid time off, flexible schedule, as well as a 401k plan with matching employer contribution.
