Job Description

  • Accountable for delivery of all aspects of IT software engineering to the Group, across a complex work program of projects & initiatives, applications enhancements and support and covering the entire software engineering and development lifecycle.
  • Lead a group of approximately 150+ software and technology experts across a diverse set of complex technical and application domain competencies, and drive a world class software capability through technology thought leadership and adopting to a constantly changing technology landscape by continuous review and change of technical skills, tools and methods and adoptions of current and future industry best practices.
  • Develop and implement a technology roadmap for software engineering and underlying technologies in collaboration with IT Architecture and IT Strategy.
  • Drive high quality delivery of software engineering services through strong technology leadership and expertise in the areas of custom software. development, software support and technical testing strategy.
  • Manage the complexity in stakeholder management which arises from the need to influence senior leadership across all IT departments to deliver optimum and effective IT software solutions and act as the single point of ownership for all in-house as well as externally sourced software engineering services delivered to and across the entire Group.
  • Drive reduction in complexity of software engineering, standardization and re-use and deliver continuous efficiency through the use of accelerators and frameworks.
  • Drive efficiency and productivity across in-house software engineering services.
  • Maintain, control and review operational costs and reduce unit costs to sustain the growth of Group without compromising on the quality of IT software services.
  • Identify and sponsor technology improvement, optimization, rationalization and replacement initiatives to keep the software engineering operations up to date, reliable and at optimal cost. Take overall responsibility for the Software Development Lifecycle processes including: estimation process, technical design, construction, testing, and implementation and post implementation support processes (application operation, maintenance and enhancement) which are used by the software delivery.
  • Plan, manage and implement effective workforce and resource management practices to optimize resource utilization and costs and set up a resource structure to deliver quality and timely software engineering and technical testing services. Accountable for the Software Engineering capability and competence levels across IT as well as overall responsibility for the quality of all software development, enhancement and maintenance deliverables across the IT work program.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's in a related field preferred (years of experience will be considered).
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience managing software engineering teams in consumer Web or SaaS products. Strong familiarity with SaaS software development best practices and development cycle.
  • Experience leading geographically distributed software engineering organization comprised of multiple teams.
  • Strong technical background that allows you to understand, advocate for and support your engineers and engineering leaders. Familiarity with cloud technologies: experience with hands-on coding and software development
  • Experience building strong partnerships with other IT functions to keep teams collaborating smoothly and working together to improve the product.
  • Ability and desire to understand the architecture and design of complicated SaaS systems and to get hands-on with data and analysis as necessary.
  • Experience with service-oriented and event-driven system architectures, building high-performance distributed systems in the cloud.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the application of software integration and automated test processes, tools, procedures, and metrics
  • Experience in Agile Software methodologies - Scrum, Kanban, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience with software test automation at multiple requirement levels
  • Experience with integration of DevOps and QA best practices and processes, with a track record for excellent uptime and resilience, or improvement thereof
  • Ability to manage and maintain complex global software deployments at scale
  • Confidence when dealing with the full technology stack in domains of Data Systems & Pipelines, Distributed Services, and front-end (API/UI), as well as cloud-based technologies

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $97,253.00 and $175,761.00. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
