The Instructional Designer (ID) is responsible for participating in projects of various levels of complexity and applies proficient understanding of the ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation), adult learning theory, and instructional design principals to content development. The Instructional Designer will support learning initiatives, working with leaders in Learning and Development and throughout the business to design training plans that deliver desired outcomes. The ID will also perform regular audits of content to ensure continued success based on set evaluation strategies and assist in creating process improvement plans as needed. The Instructional Designer will ensure consistency of training materials relating to company branding and style as well as content accuracy. In addition, this role will serve as a champion of the naviHealth purpose and values by creating a learning environment demonstrative of the naviHealth culture.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Utilize best practice needs analysis, project management, course development, and evaluation skills to develop effective and efficient learning solutions
  • Analyze and consult on the most effective content design approach and delivery methods using evidence-based practice to ensure alignment to strategy, need, and sustainable learning.
  • Independently design and develop entry to advanced level courses for both internal and external audiences
  • Determine project goals/milestones based on identified business needs and timelines and obtain appropriate approvals
  • Coordinate technical, clinical, and soft skill learning and development through content design and management
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to guide them through the ADDIE model including facilitating intake analysis to determine the needs and requirements, negotiate deadlines and identify solutions
  • Utilize storyboards for conceptualization and collaboration with the L&D Leadership, SMEs, stakeholders and L&D Specialists to ensure effective learning and development design and delivery
  • Perform regular audits of current curriculum content to ensure its continued relevancy and effectiveness to drive desired business results
  • Perform peer reviews and provide feedback and coaching to create a learning and growth culture within L&D team
  • Collaborate with Learning and Development Leadership to evaluate the effectiveness of current training content and processes and define best practices moving forward, enabling the business operations organization to continually improve upon performance and delivery of outcomes
  • Attend internal product, process, and system update sessions and meetings to obtain learning and development needs
  • Use multimedia technology and authoring tools such as Articulate 360 and Camtasia to create high-level (virtual) instructor-lead and eLearning training programs
  • Remain current with the methodologies and technologies identified for use in adult education
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Learning and Development, Instructional Design, Organizational Development, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a business-related field
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in design and development of instructor-led training, eLearning, blended learning, and assessment solutions
  • Proficient in the principles and practices of training and development, adult learning theory, curriculum development, needs assessment, and evaluation
  • Proficient with eLearning, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and course authoring tools
  • Proficient organizational, analytical, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills to assess business problems and propose plans and alternatives

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Proven excellent attention to detail in grammar and punctuation, visual design and layout, audio accuracy, and effective presentation
  • Proven ability to work with minimal supervision and be self-motivated and self-disciplined

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York City, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York City, or Washington residents is $67,800 to $133,100. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
