Kalkomey is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our small, but mighty Accounting team. This is the right role for you if you enjoy supporting multiple areas of the business, improving processes, and have strong collaboration and communication skills. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work cross-functionally and make a big impact on the business.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Daily/Weekly job duties consists of:
    • State card fees reconciliations and payments to state agencies for student enrollments
    • Inputting AP invoices related to state card fees payable to state agencies
    • Inputting ACH bank payments to state agencies for state card fees
    • Reconciling reports reflected in sub-systems to the GL for accuracy
    • Communicating with internal managers responsible for handling state agency accounts
  • Monthly month-end job duties consist of:
    • Calculating and setting up for payment vendor affiliate commission payments
    • Reconciling and update fixed asset schedule and depreciation/amortization schedules
    • Reconciling prepaid items and preparing roll-forward schedules
    • Filing and reporting state sales/use tax reports
    • Filing and reporting Canadian HST/GST filings along with provinces filings and payments
    • Capturing and recording internal capitalization projects and setting up contractor billings
    • Review contract for pricing accuracy for new products or revision products for launch
    • Preparing, paying, and communicating state agency fees with state agencies monthly


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or other related coursework
  • 2+ years of Accounting experience
  • Proficiency in Excel, including formula structuring, pivot tables, import/export data functions
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Capable of creating documentation procedure and video recordings of work for backup users
  • Clear and concise writing skills for communication with all levels of management
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to work autonomously, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • A passion for Accounting, teamwork, and the outdoors!


Preferred

  • Experience using Oracle Netsuite
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA) certification
  • Experience with auditing where you can anticipate schedules, PBC lists, etc.
  • Experience optimizing processes (e.g. decreasing days necessary for month-in close cycles)
