Product Designer 🔥


JOB DESCRIPTION

A product designer works with senior designers and managers on design strategy and creation of new products. The role is involved in significant outreach and discussions with stakeholders, customers, and users to determine how best to serve their needs. The job works with other product designers and user experience professionals to design the products for testing before presenting the completed work.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Applies Delta Dental's design thinking process towards business opportunities and partners with Product Management, Engineering, and stakeholders to shape the product vision, identify the MVP, and define features
  • Effectively communicates the problem, solution and impact through a well-organized presentation with strong story telling skills to persuade and influence the audience
  • Practices fundamental design methods and partners with User Researchers to co-create truly user-centric products
  • Understands the product domain, business and participates in stakeholder meetings
  • Shows work in design critiques, show and tells, demos, stakeholder reviews, product team reviews, and leadership meetings for awareness and opportunity to improve quality of designs
  • Understands accessibility guidelines and integrates and contributes to Delta Dental's Design system
  • Develops and maintains detailed design documentation including specifications, redlines, and style guides
  • Supports in planning design workshops

QUALIFICATIONS
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience using Sketch, Abstract, Invision, Adobe creative suite
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in product design and development
  • Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, Interaction or similar area, or equivalent practical experience
  • Intermediate knowledge of design thinking principles to help shape the product vision and strategy with product development partners.
  • Intermediated knowledge of UX methodologies to understand users and critically analyze evidence to define the problem
  • Ability to concept design and ideate towards a given definition of problem
  • Ability to use design methods such as wireframing, interaction design, visual design, and prototyping to communicate ideas and solutions
  • Intermediate knowledge of Design systems and its value towards a products' development
  • Intermediate knowledge of Accessibility and current industry guidelines
  • Intermediate knowledge of working within an agile framework
  • Good presentation skills, organization, understands the audience and communicates through storytelling to engage and persuade ideas and solutions.
  • Ability to empathize with our users to advocate for better experiences and user centered designs
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Proven track record of launching successful products with teams within a reasonable time frame and deadline

Base Pay Information

The national base pay range below is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity. $70,000 - $146,600
