- Creating a social/digital media strategy for the Heliophysics Division (NASA Sun social media accounts) using data and metrics that speaks to a variety of audiences including the public, the scientific communities, and other stakeholders.
- Creating, scheduling, and posting content daily on the NASA Heliophysics Division social media accounts
- Planning and creating social media campaigns that include public engagement and audience participation.
- Creating reports and planning content based on social media data, analytics, and messaging.
- Collaborate with other social/digital media leads and teams across the agency and to support agency wide priorities and find natural synergies between Heliophysics and other agency priorities
- Attend events and provide real-time social media coverage.
- Strong background and deep understanding of social media data, analytics, and metrics
- Ability to create and adjust social content and plans based on data and metrics and according to industry best practices
- Experience developing and leading paid and nonpaid social media campaigns across all platforms
- Ability to curate and lead NASA’s Heliophysics presence on social media which includes determining voice, style, persona, developing content and leading engagement (tagging, liking/commenting, resharing, etc.).
- Ability to adjust existing content to fit social media platforms
- Experience using a variety of content management and social media scheduling software
- Strong experience creating short form content—specifically video content for social platforms (i.e., Instagram reels, Facebook stories, YouTube Shorts, etc.)
- BA/BS in science, journalism, science writing, communication, visual/graphic design or related field, or 7+ years of experience in social and digital media, outreach activities, marketing, or a similar field
- Graphic design skill set / proficiency in static and interactive asset creation and adaptation
- Background in communicating science to public audiences
- Proficient in video editing
- Proficient in using video and graphic software (Adobe Creative Suite)
- Ability to collaborate across teams
- Ability to recognize, adapt to and, where appropriate adopt, emerging communications techniques and platforms
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Creative/advertising agency experience a plus
