About The Job:
As a Lead Product Designer on the Owned Brands team, you will join a community of kind and highly skilled UX designers, content designers, service designers, accessibility experts and UX researchers. You’ll benefit from robust onboarding, and personal and career development opportunities. In your day to day, you will partner closely with product, process, and engineering partners to develop new and emerging applications. You’ll craft UX strategy, drive and facilitate product discovery through testing and research, sketch concepts, define interaction and visual design with the support of our design system, and build prototypes. You’ll have access to internal users and vendor partners for remote research. You’ll balance innovation with thoughtful iteration to drive great outcomes for our Team Members, our guests, and our business.
We are seeking a Lead Product Designer to guide the development of new internal tools for sourcing, costing, and negotiation. These tools will drive the collaboration and data analysis essential to the success of Target’s Owned Brands. We need someone whose approach to UX begins with systems thinking and generative discovery and continues through to detailed design-someone who can own the design process from concept to completion. The Lead Product Designer will:
Set UX strategy and vision for your team
Use storytelling to educate others and gain support
Proactively identify and pursue design opportunities within and across products
Guide design process and mentor more junior designers
Hold design work to a high standard of craft, including accessibility, user research, information architecture, interaction design, visual design
Advance a culture of human-centered practice within UX, product, and engineering teams
Effectively use both qualitative and quantitative research insights to set your direction
Build a network of relationships to enable your work
About You:
5+ years of product design experience preferred, but level of proficiency is more important to us
Experience designing responsive web applications and internal tools
Strong communication and storytelling skills
Deep knowledge of human-centered and UX design craft
Have expert skills in design and prototyping tools (includes Figma or equivalent)
Ability to manage competing priorities and timelines
Able to navigate complexity and ambiguity and plan UX work
Experience building relationships with many cross-functional partners
Can balance the need for strategic work with day-to-day design work
