GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Our mission at the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) is to serve, protect and advance the citizens and industries in the state with quality motor vehicle related services. We are a dynamic state agency dedicated to customer service, consumer protection and the success of motor vehicle-related industries.
Performs complex (journey-level) computer programming and system support work in support of the TxDMV, Information Technology Services Division. Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and collaborate across teams in support of the resolution of service requests and incidences. Technical position for application system support for all environments. Supports existing application software programs based upon program specifications or verbal instruction with the objective of meeting agency needs in one or more agency divisions/units; may work on these assignments independently or as part of a team. Works under general supervision, with latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Provides tier 1,2 levels of support for application software programs, including problem resolution from software failures or other problems, answering questions, etc., during standard and non-standard working hours with rotating on-call after hours support.
Monitors, supports, and troubleshoots application issues.
Provides customer service and answers user inquiries regarding application operations and the use and interface of systems; may assist in the design, development, and maintenance of various systems and applications.
Interprets business and system use cases and requirements documentation to understand functionality to be developed, translates these requirements into a software coding solution and may provide input for the Functional Requirements Specifications (FRS).
Facilitates root cause analysis of system issues to minimize impact and future occurrences.
Provides support for application software programs, including problem resolution from software failures or other problems, answering questions, etc., during standard and non-standard working hours. Maintains, supports, and monitors program code ensuring ongoing operations and execution of this software.
Participates in all phases of SDLC. Complies with all defined policies and procedures for software development, testing, implementation, and support; identifies and recommends opportunities for improvement.
Maintains knowledge of changing hardware and software technology.
Participates in design and code walk-throughs and reviews.
Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule.
Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information.
Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major in computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, or a related field plus two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in computer programming or systems analysis, support and design. Experience and education may be substituted for one another. (Experience requirements may be satisfied by full-time experience or the prorated part-time equivalent.)
