Job Summary Full-time, remote work eligible opportunity to join the Population Sciences programming team at Huntsman Cancer Institute. Responsible for performing professional programmer/analyst assignments related to research databases. Complete data related tasks for projects supported by the Population Sciences data management team. Position will interface with both local and national study teams. Create various queries, reports, and datasets using transact-SQL programming language, SQL Server Reporting Services, and other query, data visualization, and reporting tools. Assist with harmonization, documentation, testing and imports of datasets. Responsible for new user accounts and account management on various systems. Performs maintenance and updates to systems, including JIRA service desk, Progeny, and REDCap. Monitors the progress of various research projects and ensures adherence to project timelines. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related area, or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). 2-5 years of programmer/analyst or related experience.

Preferences
  • Utah residents. University of Utah employees are expected to live and work in the state of Utah.
  • Experience with IT project management software such as JIRA
  • Familiar with SQL Programming
  • Knowledge of relational database tools and practices
  • Self-starter with good problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in research analysis & medical terminology is also preferred but not required
  • Soft skills may compensate for a lack of experience in these areas.
