About the Role

Rubix seeks an Associate Director, Client Services to oversee client relationships. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing a team and working closely with brands to develop strategic goals and business objectives.

The Associate Director will become an expert on our client's businesses and will serve as a leader at Rubix, bridging the clients' needs with the agency's growth. This position's primary goals are to ensure our key processes are working smoothly and to bring about new and innovative ideas to help push our clients/team forward in the digital marketing landscape.

The Associate Director, Client Services, will support the Rubix team in the following ways:

Client Management

  • Serve as the primary internal stakeholder for all clients through driving agency accountability by providing a lens of the clients' best interest across strategy, data analysis, optimizations, channel expansion, and overall partnership growth
  • Providing competitive analysis, marketplace analysis, and creation of POVs
  • Implementing new and innovative strategies while measuring and communicating the business impact of the results
  • Capitalizing on the latest media technologies, third-party tools, and beta opportunities
  • Work with account leads and finance to ensure accurate billing, budgeting, & forecasting

Strategic Planning

  • Create and own roadmap for ongoing innovation to ensure we are delivering on best-in-class testing opportunities throughout digital media
  • Work closely with the data team to deliver client reporting that is accurate and informative
  • Work with the project management team and account leads to ensure deliverables are met on time with quality; enforce processes & best practices
  • Support projects, such as content development, campaign planning, and email strategy, through both a creative and analytical approach
  • Maintain and create case studies based on client performance to use in Rubix marketing
  • Develop client-facing POVs on the latest trends and technologies across our service verticals
  • Keep a finger on the "pulse" of the digital marketplace to identify opportunities for growth, new offerings, driving innovation and ensuring the quality of service


Leadership & Development

  • Establish a clear strategic vision to manage the operational success of accounts
  • Instills positivity and motivation towards junior staff and across the wider team
  • Work with client coordinators across verticals to ensure, accountability and agency standards are being met
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with all third-party partners
  • Serve as media subject matter expert in internal and client-facing conversations
  • Present client-facing plan recommendations and performance reports
  • Showcase strong communication skills, especially to senior leadership, focused more on storytelling & bigger picture ideas vs. performance details.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • 5+ years of industry experience at an agency or for direct-to-consumer brands with omnichannel approaches
  • A lifelong learner interested in multi-channel digital strategy, digital marketing, affiliate marketing, mobile, social, etc.
  • Ability to manage multiple people, work streams, and projects simultaneously
  • Highly motivated, incredibly resourceful, and confident in a remote environment
  • A positive and proactive team player who takes the initiative to identify & complete action items and seeks out new opportunities to get tasks done efficiently and effectively


Your First 30 Days

  • Attend internal client stand-ups
  • Subscribe to all clients' emails, newsletters, and google alerts to learn how they message themselves and how they are being talked about
  • Review the Client Health scorecard and understand any client flags
  • Review past client reports and begin identifying room for improvements, inclusive of the data being presented and the recommendations being made
  • Meet with Paid Digital and Performance PR team key stakeholders to understand our processes and procedures


60 Day Deliverables

  • Take over internal client stand-ups to ensure they are strategic and task-oriented
  • Take over the client health scorecard process for quick review by leadership
  • Develop a process for ongoing competitor analysis
  • Work with Paid Digital and Performance PR teams to develop best practices and minimum level of service standards
  • Work with the Data Team to make necessary changes to reporting to ensure we are delivering the highest quality reports to clients
  • Outline areas of improvement in weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting to ensure all reporting meetings serve as an opportunity to do the following:
    • Showcase our work in the best light
    • Push the team to think strategically in their recommendations
    • Offer optimization and innovative opportunities
    • Upsell new services (when appropriate)


90 Development Plan

By 90 days you should begin to own the following

  • Serve as a driving force and source of truth for client accounts. You will be in charge of identifying resources that align with clients' needs, building and implementing strategic account plans, and managing client expectations. You will work to fully understand clients' business objectives, performance metrics, competitive landscape, financial considerations, and long-term vision
  • Bridge all teams working across accounts. You'll work with internal partners to make sure the crafting, articulation, and successful delivery of digital strategies, tactics, and solutions will advance the objectives of clients
  • Lead the charge to ensure client projects/campaigns are running smoothly - launched on time, optimized to meet expected KPIs, with all reports delivered to a high standard
  • Work to resolve any blockers or flags preventing efficient work across client teams
  • Produce weekly account status reports, flagging wins, and any major blockers
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of client programs, recommending improvements or additional services as appropriate
  • Attend team stand-ups as needed (Growth Marketing, Performance PR, Leadership, etc.) to digest and relay information/ensure knowledge of account happenings
  • Ensure all teams have a clear understanding of clients' upcoming plans and initiatives to teams, e.g., promo details, product launches, and new initiatives
  • Oversee management of client documents, ensuring security always
  • Long-term account projects, e.g., holiday planning, management of creative development/teams, and production of organizational trackers and documents
  • Foster meaningful and trusting relationships with existing and potential clients while ensuring their digital marketing goals are met which can lead to client renewals and expansion of work into additional channels
  • Take responsibility for all finished products and services and own the results of clients
