Overview: The Database Developer reports to the Sr. Director of Application Development as part of the corporate IT team. In this capacity, the Database Developer works closely with both the IT Business Analysts and management stakeholders for the development, implementation, maintenance, enhancement, and support of data warehousing, business intelligence, and reporting initiatives. The Database Developer will act as a vital link between technological capacities and business objectives. The position solves complex data problems as part of a small and effective team. As a team member, the individual will have exposure to the entire development process. Responsibilities:
  • Understand how to manage the entire SDLC of a BI solution from source system to end user reporting
  • Assist the Business Analysts in in the design and testing of data solutions
  • Integrate source systems into the data replication marts at the central data center
  • Transform data into the warehouse using standard methodologies
  • Design and maintain data domains in the data warehouse
  • Develop outputs such as views, cubes, stored procedures and other objects to be consumed by reporting applications
  • Successfully manage completion of project initiatives on-time and within budget
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and priorities
  • Effectively communicate shared tasks and responsibilities with other team members and outside consultants
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work both independently and in small teams to obtain results
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of focused experience in Microsoft database development, data warehousing, ETL and business intelligence
  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Application, Business Analytics, Data Science, Operations Research, Statistics or equivalent business experience
  • Working knowledge of both OLAP and OLTP databases
  • Working knowledge of Kimball/Star warehousing patterns
  • Expert level SQL language skills - proficient in writing complex Stored Procedures, User Defined Functions (UDFs), and other database server objects
  • Full understanding of the software development life cycle from project initiation to support, including the use of tools such as GitHub and Azure DevOps to track activities and commit code
  • Strong experience in client interaction and understanding business applications, business data flow and logical/ physical data modeling.
  • Extensive experience solving real world ETL problems using SSIS, Informatica, or other enterprise ETL tools
  • Proficiency in building and deploying Cubes using SSAS
  • Understanding of data replication, failover, disaster recovery, and backup/restore as it relates to the data warehouse
