Senior Project Accountant 🔥
POSITION PURPOSE
This position will provide mission critical, integrated, operational support for the Accounting Department’s infrastructure essentials.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Responsible for invoicing and collection process for the Governmental customers under applicable contract(s)
- Ensure all invoicing deadlines are met across varying weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly and/or monthly billing cycles dependent upon contracting requirements.
- Ensure properly supported and billed in accordance with contract terms.
- Track cash receipts & disbursement and ensure all items are properly documented in the accounting system.
- Review all subcontractor invoices follow subcontract terms, services/hours approved, and validate for payment, proper accounting and job costing.
- Knowledge and experience with Fixed Asset and Lease accounting, including new lease standard ASC 842.
- Maintain records of all leases and long-term contracts and ensure compliance with all contract requirements
- Review all program purchases in accordance with capitalization guidance.
- Processing of ~10k expense reimbursement checks per month.
- Reconciliation of bank accounts processing over 10k checks per month.
- Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures
- Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity
- Attention to detail and accuracy very critical in this role.
- Resolving any disputes/issues on invoices communicated from customers
- Ensuring prompt cash collection
- Report aged receivables, payables and performance metrics monthly to senior management
- Actively manage aged receivable risk situations to maximize collections and minimize write-offs
- Provide leadership and training to the team and intervene in issues e.g. process / systems failures
- Develop and exhibit expert level of technical ability for all aspects
- Take full responsibility for timeliness, completeness and accuracy and meeting metric goals
- Build close working relationships with project operations and contract management, including leading weekly status meetings.
- Review and improve processes to ensure a high level of customer service
- Strong focus on process improvement and ability to review and change processes to improve service levels
- Ensures proper maintenance, filing, and storage of records in case of audits.
- Prepare metrics and variance explanations on contracts under purview
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with customers, other members of the billing department, the payroll department and account managers. Exceptional customer service to customers, account managers and other staff members. Weekly and monthly reporting to direct supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: BA/BS in Accounting, required. CPA License required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 5+ years experience in Accounting
SKILLS/ABILITIES: A strong team player with superb interpersonal skills
Knowledge of accounts receivable/payable procedures
Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals

MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions and to deal with problems involving a few variables.
TECHNOLOGICAL ABILITY:
Competent in the use of MS Word and Excel. Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics SL (or other relevant ERP system).
