Tax Senior Manager 🔥


Perkins & Co’s Portland, OR, and Vancouver, WA, offices are open without restrictions. We are hiring nationwide, with more than 1/4 of our workforce being fully remote from outside the Portland and Vancouver metro areas. Most of our local team has autonomy to decide whether to work on-site, remotely, or hybrid. Interviews will be held virtually in most cases.

The work location for this role is flexible; we are open to a fully remote arrangement for candidates who are located in the United States. Candidates interested in relocating to the Portland area may be eligible for moving assistance. We are not sponsoring visas or hiring internationally.

Perkins has always been a different kind of accounting firm, and one of the things that we do better than others is facilitating long-term career success. We do that in several ways, one of them being reasonable hours expectations. Full-time Senior Managers are expected to work 2300 total hours/1325 billable hours annually, which means the busy season target is 45 - 50 hours/week with generally no expectation to work weekends.


Salary varies depending on each candidate’s experience level and location, so we’ll talk about those details when you’re invited to an initial phone call ($130K minimum).


What's expected of a Tax Senior Manager?

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and potential clients; Effectively manage overall client relationships to ensure client satisfaction
  • Promote collaboration between service lines to provide high quality client service
  • Review returns prepared by the team and provide constructive feedback to develop their personal and professional skills
  • Conduct tax research and advise clients on various tax issues
  • Foster teamwork and innovation to enhance the client service experience
  • Develop and motivate engagement teams by providing mentorship, leadership, coaching and career guidance; Ensure continuous improvement and development of tax professionals
  • Demonstrate and maintain technical expertise
  • Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality
  • Seek opportunities to expand leadership within the firm by getting involved in various aspects of the firm such as training and development, recruiting, updating processes/procedures, etc.

Who Qualifies?

  • 8+ years of recent, progressive experience in public accounting (or combination of industry and public accounting), preferably in a large local/regional or Big 4 firm
  • Active CPA license
  • Accustomed to working in a paperless, cloud-based environment
  • Excellent analytical, technical, and tax accounting/technology skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to give and receive both positive and constructive feedback
  • Strong attention to detail, organized, and adept at problem solving
  • High level of integrity and trustworthiness
