LifeMade Products, LLC and Shakespeare Company, LLC are operating companies of Jadex Inc. LifeMade is a leading manufacturer of injection-molded plastic cutlery, foam coolers, ice substitutes, and straws. Shakespeare is a top provider of universal fit lawn and garden grass trimmer accessories and high-performance marine antennas and communication solutions.

As we expand our footprint in existing and adjacent industry verticals, we are looking for experienced hunters to drive new customer acquisitions.

Position Summary:
Our ideal candidates will have 7+ years of experience selling manufactured goods to Retail, Food, Drug, Mass, Hardware/Home Center, C-Store, Sporting Goods, and Foodservice. Additional consideration will be given for those with experience selling sustainable products. The DBD understands how to create revenue by initiating and driving complex deals from lead stage to contract execution. The DBD knows how to create and develop relationships with senior level executives (e.g. sustainability officers, buyers) at large global companies. The DBD can work effectively in a collaborative, team-based company. The DBD has a proven record of consistently meeting sales and margin quotas.

This position will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Retail Sales and will have commercial responsibility for leading a US-based new business development team.

Primary Functions:
  • Align with Senior Vice President of Sales on how to achieve your and your team’s goals and provide regularly scheduled updates on progress towards the goals
  • Assess, build, and cultivate a high-performance, new businesses development team that includes team member succession plans
  • Reach individual and team quarterly and annual sales targets (Quota and KPIs) through new customer acquisitions
  • Manage an effective sales funnel with a continual flow of prospects entering and moving through the sales lifecycle
  • Ensure team pipelines are up to date and that leads and target areas for team are clear and provided. Break roadblocks for internal team
  • Create your own opportunities with outbound prospecting
  • Develop strong executive level customer relationships to facilitate stronger strategic growth opportunities
  • Quarterback internal resources and manage prospect expectations to drive opportunities in a timely and professional manner
  • Develop win themes, present solutions, and understand how to negotiate complex deals to close
  • Lead customer contract negotiations, including supply agreements and pricing adjustments
  • Create customer and product value propositions that enhance company’s ability to price to value
  • Submit any special reports regarding the operation of a channel, acceptance of products, or competitive conditions as requested
  • Successfully hand off new won business to Account management team once initial work is delivered
Education and Experience:
Education
  • BS/BA in Business or related subject or equivalent experience required
Experience/Knowledge
  • Minimum of seven years progressive consumer product goods sales experience required.
  • CPG industry experience required; Channel-specific preferred
  • New business development experience managing multiple product categories/customers required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of product management sales, sales process, trade, category management and supplier / retailer management and methods as well as proven ability to apply them effectively in planning and execution
  • Demonstrated use of multiple information sources to develop sales strategies and tactics as well as effectively managing promotional activity and trade spending
  • Proven track record of delivering consistent results
  • Utilized CRM to record key metrics on opportunities and pipeline reporting
  • Highly proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
Technical Role Competencies:
  • Strong business/financial acumen
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Aptitude to interpret/use multiple information sources to develop customer-specific tactical plans and options
  • Excellent communication (verbal & written), presentations, and time management skills required
  • Entrepreneurial mindset to execute with velocity, adapt as needed, and drive for financial results; self-motivated
  • Ability to function in a team environment
  • Experience in project/trade spending management
Preferred Experience/Qualifications:
  • 7+ years progressive sales leadership / account management positions
  • Foodservice / General Merchandise / Consumer Product Goods / Disposable Tabletop experience
  • Experience with multiple top-tier retail customers / categories / products / brands
  • Private label and national brand experience
  • Built new channels from the ground floor
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
  • Sitting at workstation approximately 85 percent of work time. Standing and walking approximately 15 percent of work time.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50 percent of work time.
  • Ability to work flexible hours or occasionally on weekends with short notice depending on customer deliverables.
  • Typical office environment with shelves overhead and above work surfaces.
