About the team

Zillow Group’s Communications team comprises a mix of communications professionals working together to grow brand awareness through both proactive and reactive media relations. This role will report to the Director of Brand Communications and will work side-by-side with the rest of the communications team. This person will often work cross-functionally with Zillow economists, marketing, design, business and product groups.

About the role

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive and strategic media plan to drive consistent national and in-market coverage around the housing market and Zillow tech that excites consumers and attracts talent.
  • Leverage journalistic news sense to write high quality press releases, owned content and pitch narratives that establish Zillow as a tech leader and drive consumers and job candidates to our businesses.
  • Build and champion relationships with journalists and outlets covering tech and the housing market.
  • Serve as a company spokesperson; mentor other Zillow leaders on interview techniques and prepare them for interviews and meetings with journalists.
  • Develop messaging, strategies and story angles to make Zillow’s tech and products accessible and relevant.
  • Position Zillow’s experts as tech industry leaders with vision.
  • Understand our customers and their needs to help guide business decisions.
  • Lead the Zillow Tech Hub.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in any of the 50 US States, with limited exceptions. In certain cases, an employee in a remote-designated job may need to live in a specific region or time zone to support customers or clients as part of their role.

In Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada and New York City the standard base pay range for this role is $103,200.00 - $164,800.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada and New York City and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

  • Multifaceted media relations authority with tech journalist contacts and experience with securing consistent coverage top-tier outlets.

  • A proven track record, motivated and innovative individual who has a passion for keeping up with the news agenda and spotting trends or opportunities.
  • An outstanding collaborator who can share ownership of success.
  • A detailed professional who can effectively communicate technical complexities.
  • Someone who can successfully handle up and across to leaders and peers.
  • Is strategic but also an executor, should be able to chip in and implement. Can take a big idea and make it bigger.

  • Excels in a fast-paced environment.

Skills

  • 5-7 years of strategic public relations or communications experience, with experience working as a journalist or directly with journalists, with growing responsibility.
  • A goal-oriented critical thinker with strong media-relations skills and experience in consumer-facing public relations/communications, with emphasis on relationships/shown results with tech storytelling and coverage.
  • A curious, natural storyteller who can find and tell relevant, accessible and compelling stories that drive curiosity about our businesses.
  • A strong writer and communicator with editing experience and proficient knowledge of AP Style.
  • Ability to move very quickly, balance multiple urgent priorities and work on a tight deadline.
