This position can be 100% remote for candidates based anywhere in the US. If you prefer to work in a hybrid model (part time remote and part time from an office), we can offer a hybrid environment from one of our offices located in Canton, MA, Edison, NJ, Jersey City, NJ or Greenwood Village, CO.

A role you will love

As the Global Systems Management Linux Engineer, your primary focus is to deliver quality platforms and services to help wider audiences leverage to achieve their goals globally. This includes, but is not limited to, Automation, Application Delivery, Migration, Threat & Vulnerability remediation, System build Automation, Monitoring and Project delivery.

To ensure the team’s success, you will be an active contributor on our collaboration platform (currently Microsoft Teams) and you’ll ensure that continual training and knowledge sharing occurs with your peers (and other CTS staff), within your sphere of knowledge. You will also mentor other members of the Systems Management Team to achieve innovative, efficient, and effective delivery of Microsoft & third-party product technology services to our internal and external customers.

At times, you will be asked to consult, recommend, document, and implement policies and standards relating to the Computershare Windows environment, ensuring its adherence to security procedures with existing and/or new technologies being delivered into the Global Systems Management space.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be comfortable and capable working with external vendors to keep current with technology progress, roadmaps and overall direction of technology used, or to be used, in Computershare. This will ensure that when you are participating in operational strategic planning and decision-making processes, you will be able to provide technical assistance and knowledge as a subject matter expert across at least one or more of the systems which are managed by the Systems Management team.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Daily checking and processing of Service Desk tickets and tasks queue
  • Maintaining & managing stakeholder communications, and agreed timeframes, ensuring their expectations are met
  • Confirming that system health issues and outages, GSM owned, are communicated immediately to the team & stakeholders
  • Ensuring improvements on existing and future tooling are driven to show improvement in efficiencies
  • Monitoring and alerting are maintained and has good infrastructure and broader usage
  • Ensuring vulnerability remediation task progress is well communicated and completed within target timeframes
  • Active participation on the Computershare collaboration platform (Ms Teams) & Team meetings
  • Service Ticket management and setting requestors expectations
  • Ensuring regular stakeholder engagements on requests are occurring
  • Ability to shift to allocated priority tasks for the need to address issues and/or requests to prioritize important tasks, while ensuring stakeholder management communications are occurring

What will you bring to the role?

  • 3+ years' experience installing, operating and recovering Linux operating systems
  • Ability to create and run a Linux system management practice and routine that aligns with corporate IT policies and procedures with the ability to administer the systems on a day to basis
  • Experience in managing and supporting Linux based application servers, repository management, connectivity, SNMP, Crontabs, virtualization using KVM and VMWare
  • Proficiency with shell scripting and/or PHP
  • Ability to work with both technical and those with limited understanding of technical concepts
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to manage multiple change work streams, often across many technologies
  • Proven ability to set priorities independently, provide follow-through, and meet objectives
  • Understanding of ITIL processes and functions

Bonus points if you have:

  • RedHat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) qualified (or equivalent)
  • 5+ years of Systems Administration experience
  • Experience with the following technologies:
    • Debian and/or RedHat Enterprise Linux
    • RedHat Satellite – systems management software
    • RedHat High Availability Clustering
    • RedHat IDM – Identity management
    • RedHat OpenShift
    • Microsoft Server technologies
    • Experience with enterprise level backup systems (Rubrik a plus)

Compensation. Approximately $90,000 to $100,000 per year USD, depending on experience.
