Payroll Tax Analyst 🔥
- Audit, complete, and prepare employee and company level tax data in the payroll system
- Audit and prepare all payroll agency related tax items
- Review and create tax audit reports
- Audit and prepare MWR and BLS agency data
- Review system generated exception reporting and other payroll audit reports and take action as necessary
- Obtain a thorough understanding of payroll and benefit polices
- Analyze and resolve payroll system error messages related to on and off cycle payroll processing
- Supports testing and implementation of Workday releases
- Audit new hire, updates, and termination status changes in the payroll system
- Maintain payroll information by collection, calculating and entering data
- Collect and analyze information to resolve any payroll discrepancies
- Prepare general ledger entries to record tax related transactions
- Balance the payroll system to the tax reports prepared
- Reconcile general ledger entries as needed
- File selected tax returns not prepared by payroll provider
- Ensure that appropriate approvals are verified for payroll processing
- Identify any/all tax errors to ensure accuracy of payroll processing
- Prepare and process unclaimed property related to payroll processing
- Maintain adequate and appropriate performance metric expectations
- Special Projects/other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

- 5 plus years of multi-state payroll tax experience, good understanding of state and local taxes including research and adjustments.
- 3 - 5 years of payroll processing experience, good understanding payroll calculations and compensation taxing requirements.
- 3 - 5 years’ experience in multi-state payroll processing
- 3 - 5 years’ experience completing and reconciling GL data
- Experience filing payroll tax returns
- Previous experience with Workday
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Excel skills must be intermediate
- Some college preferred
