Most people don’t realize the importance of the Finance department in keeping our business operating without hitches and delays. That’s probably because we oversee many of the more quietly glamorous, back-office functions that drive our bottom line. We not only forecast, build and manage budgets, we also collect and analyze important data that helps leadership make the best decisions. All of this sounds exciting to you because you love numbers and spreadsheets, and especially love great entertainment. THE ROLE: Staff Accountant, Programming A+E Networks has an amazing Staff Accountant opportunity in New York providing support in the accounting department. MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU’LL DO:
  • Prepare GL reconciliations for all production companies, as well as those for AETN Scripted and Unscripted Studios, on a monthly basis
  • Review production funding requests and facilitate the funding process
  • Prepare intercompany journal entries and reconciliations between related entities
  • Review bank reconciliations for all production level companies
  • Interact with production teams in New York & Los Angeles
  • Maintain subsidiary ledger for all In-house productions
  • Coordinate among different teams to set up new production entities in the general ledger
  • Perform timely close-out of production entities in the GL
  • Monitor production spend on in-house productions
  • Collect and maintain records for yearly audits
  • Provide support to tax department on yearly filings for AETN and production level entities
  • Work with receivables department to ensure that revenue is being collected and invoices are being produced
  • Prepare month-end close journal entries
  • Support finance and production departments in maintaining yearly budgets and quarterly forecasts
  • Prepare ad-hoc projects to help management make informed decisions

  • BA/BS Accounting
  • 2-3 years of relevant accounting experience, CPA a plus
  • Strong understanding of intercompany accounting
  • Entertainment and/or agency experience a plus
  • Detailed-oriented and extremely organized
  • Must have the ability to work independently, efficiently and be able to meet deadlines under strict time constraints
  • Knowledge or experience in programming development and production a plus
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
