Graphic Designer

The Motion Graphic Designer plans and executes designs for a targeted audience according to individual project needs using desktop publishing software. Utilizes a variety of methods (e.g. color, type, illustration, photography, print and layout techniques) to convey print and electronic messages.
Remote opportunity - This is a full-time remote (work from home) position.

  • Consults with client or supervisor to
  • Evaluate individual project needs
  • Clarify message and user appeal the design should portray
  • Plans and executes designs for a targeted audience
  • Considers cognitive, cultural, physical, and social factors
  • Studies illustrations, photographs, and text
  • Determines appropriate size and layout of illustrative material and copy
  • Selects style and size of type and creates sample layouts
  • Coordinates assigned project production
  • Either creates finished layout or prepares instructions for individuals to prepare final layouts
  • Changes provided text to enhance the layout or for sizing purposes
  • Obtains cost estimates, selects, and supervises outside vendors (e.g. photographers, illustrators, printers)
  • Consults with photographers regarding needed images
  • Selects photographs and corrects images
  • Prepares and preflights (e.g. checks color, images, fonts, formats) files prior to printing
  • Collaborates with printers
  • Checks job status
  • Communicates changes or addition to printer
  • Conducts press checks as needed
  • Makes blueline changes and resubmits artwork to printer if needed
  • Reviews final product before releasing to client
  • Maintains archiving folder for all IMC design materials
  • Collects and organizes final PDF files, print sheets, and purchase orders and backs them up as they are finalized
  • Demonstrates and supports a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Bachelor's degree in visual communications or related area of study
  • 0 - 2 years of graphic design experience
  • Prior experience with and a strong portfolio of motion graphics work
  • Prior experience with video editing
  • Experience with Adobe Suite and common motion graphics design and video editing software
