About the team:

The Business Development and New Markets (BDNM) team is at the leading edge of realizing Avantus' vision of becoming a clean energy major. It is responsible for reaching accessing new markets, winning new customers, and securing the tools and partnerships required to continue delivering world-class products and services. Working directly with Avantus' executive team, BDNM has played a pivotal role in developing business lines for Power-to-X (e.g., Bitcoin mining, green hydrogen, heat) and round-the-clock energy and building go-to-market strategies for new geographies domestically and globally.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze the energy market, stay abreast of market changes, anticipate market trends, and identify new technologies and business models that could further enhance Avantus' capabilities and meet its growth objectives
  • Articulate the needs of customers and markets currently underserved by Avantus and assess the market opportunity
  • Source, assess, and act on business opportunities to meet Avantus' growth objectives and resolve underlying business challenges
  • Grow a business line and/or technology offering from ideation stage to commercialization and prepare to scale
  • Oversee business operations, technology, and infrastructure implementation and handover
  • Work cross-functionally with relevant Avantus teams, leveraging internal expertise and creating buy-in for initiatives
  • Prepare and present strategic rationale and investment proposals to senior management that support decision-making

Skills:

  • Degree in business or a quantitative/analytics field; Masters/MBA preferred
  • At least 3 years of experience in energy, cleantech, or a relevant field
  • Background in management consulting, business development, or working in cross-functional environments
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in independently drafting strategy documents
  • Proven entrepreneurial drive to lead initiatives from concept stage to implementation in a collaborative manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact with people, to develop trusted relationships and to support ideas and opinions in front of different audiences
  • Superior communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to speak in front of groups, (senior) decision makers and C-Level executives
  • Intellectual curiosity to seek new opportunities and ability to quickly learn new areas of interest
  • Comfortable with financial and economic modeling
  • Ability to travel as required
