As a Technical Product Support Specialist, you will support the local Cylon, Smart Building Solutions Sales teams and our customers by providing technically appropriate and cost-effective solutions. You'll prepare technical descriptions of the applied products and technology in support of the product lifecycle. You will be a key technical resource for ABB Cylon's Digital Solutions Portfolio, including its HVAC and Energy Management Controls products.

This position can be virtual/remote-based in the continental US (EST time zone preferred)

Your responsibilities

  • Work closely with system Integrators to analyze, diagnose, and troubleshoot complex issues and provide appropriate and accurate technical solutions; share energy management systems product expertise through multiple channels of communication, including conducting training sessions and webinars.
  • Responsible for responding to internal and external customer questions and inquiries and effectively resolving any problems on an ongoing basis.
  • Address customer's problems on Digital Solutions platforms, HVAC controllers and energy management systems & applications, including management of escalations and transition of support to cross-functional teams.
  • Will assist System Integrators with building control automation programming elements, as required.
  • Work with ABB's Smart Building cross-functional teams to define and validate new product and sustaining engineering product development efforts.
  • Summarize discussions, meetings, issues and resolutions in the call management system.
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of specific designated products.
  • Contribute to product knowledge centers to support the propagation and publication of product technical knowledge.
  • Contribute to the overall, mutual success of the team by performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • May work slightly staggered hours to ensure coverage of Eastern & Western time zones (Americas.)

Your background

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related is preferred, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in technical product support within the Smart Building or industrial Automation industries or Non-degreed with a minimum of 7 years or more experience in the connected Building Energy Management Solutions industry.
  • Must have direct customer support and/or technical project management experience, preferably servicing digital applications and/or HVAC Building Automation Systems.
  • Experience with integration of low-voltage building sub-systems using various industry protocols such as BACnet, Modbus and TCP-IP is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills required, including strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, basic IT networking skills and familiarity with Internet-based applications.
  • Ability to confidently visualize problems and provide remote guidance direction.
  • Ability to travel 5-10% domestically required.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and changing priorities with strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must be a self-starter with a strong sense of initiative - proactive problem-preventer and solution-seeker.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated team player with strong collaboration sills.
  • Knowledge of Modbus, Teletrol or American Auto-Matrix PUP protocols is a plus, as well as knowledge of, or certification in, Niagara AX or N4.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in United States.
