Nonclinical Data Management is a new function within our company; This role represents an exciting opportunity to help form new processes in support of our mission to serve as stewards of nonclinical data, support regulatory submissions, and leverage modern analytics as a competitive advantage within the research and safety assessment space. As we are a small team, this role will assist in a wide range of tasks, including assisting data processing, validation, and reporting of nonclinical study data, preparation of datasets used in support of regulatory submissions (e.g. SEND data standard), advising on approaches to solve business problems including automation solutions, and contribute to the development of data visualization, analytics, and reporting structures to facilitate rapid decision-making. This role will report to the Associate Director of Nonclinical Data Management and is suited to an individual who excels in a dynamic environment and managing multiple projects. Work Model:Flex: At least 2 days in office is expected and established with the manager Or Remote: officially documented as working full time from home, with travel to Ultragenyx's offices or other location on occasion as needed (approx. 2 to 4 times per year) Responsibilities: Work extensively with Translational Research scientists, the In Vivo Core group, and other stakeholders to implement best practices for collection and harmonization of study dataAssist in day-to-day management of nonclinical data collection systems and vendors involved in data capture and processing.Ensure data quality in nonclinical database through extract, transform, and load testing prior to database insertion and production of datasets for regulatory submissionsReview of study protocols to ensure that data collection systems/software are configured correctly to meet study and regulatory objectivesReview nonclinical data deliverables for completeness, accuracy and consistency in accordance with study protocolsUsing specialized tools, prepare and review of CDISC compliant SEND datasets in support of regulatory submissions (e.g., IND, BLA, NDA) within specified timelinesUse Python, R, and Spotfire to support data processing, statistical analysis, and nonclinical data visualizationWork with key functional stakeholders to design and deliver formatted business reports to simplify and accelerate decision makingContribute to development of business rules for data transformation within the Nonclinical Data Management groupCollaborate frequently with regulatory operations, data curators, and database specialists across the company Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or related disciplineExperience with data integration, querying, data cleaning, ETL frameworks, and resolving data issuesExperience and strong understanding of data modeling and schema design, including databases and file systems for scientific dataStrong experience with languages used in data analytics and automation like R, Python, XML, and SQL Experience with data visualization software (e.g., Spotfire, PowerBI, R Shiny), building custom reporting templates, and statistical computing software (e.g., R, GraphPad Prism, SAS JMP)Strong business mindset with ability to collaborate with business partners to identify needs and opportunities for improved data management and deliveryMust be able to establish and maintain professional, productive and courteous interactions which promote positive teamwork.Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to present results in a clear and user-friendly manner The following are strongly desired:Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Statistics or related discipline2+ years related experience in Life Sciences industry or laboratory environmentPrior familiarity with CDISC data standards (SDTM, SEND, Define.XML) is a plusFamiliarity with SAP Crystal Report or similar reporting servicesExperience with Oracle databases#LI-MK1#LI-REMOTE#REMOTE Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical is an equal opportunity employer & prohibits unlawful discrimination based on race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, national origin/ancestry, age, disability, marital and veteran status.
