Work Location: Fort Collins, CO / Remote

Applied Future Technologies, Inc. (AFT) is actively seeking an Application Programmer to join our development team and support our federal customer. The successful candidate will have an understanding of software engineering and have worked in an Agile & DevSecOps environment. This work will be performed virtually, but some work at the government site in Denver may occur in the future.

Responsibilities:

The candidate is responsible for the design and implementation of a distributed enterprise application with external and internal interfaces utilizing Microservices and business automation patterns to modernize an existing system from the ground up. In addition to the creation of custom software within an Agile & DevSecOps environment, the candidate should exhibit excellent problem solving and data analysis skills as well as a proven ability to work independently. The candidate will focus on design, implementation and testing of the software built on a new technology stack using industry standard tools and design patterns. It is essential that this candidate have exceptional communication skills and be flexible with technology, environment, and priorities.

Key Tasks:

  • Design, develop and test enterprise web APIs and backend services.
  • Work with product management to translate requirements into technical design and provide estimates.
  • Define and implement unit and integration tests.
  • Develop high quality, shippable code in short increments.
  • Work closely with engineering and QA to manage and improve the development pipeline.
  • Meet required security standards/protocols.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. 5 years of experience in lieu of BA/BS will be considered.
  • Candidate should have no less than 5 years of experience in a software engineering position.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience in enterprise software design, implementation, and deployment.
  • Experience working with Scrum based development teams.
  • Familiarity with JSON, YAML, XML.
  • Familiarity working with distributed, modular system architectures (i.e., Microservices, SOA).
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP network stack and best practices for enterprise application security.
  • Experience using Postman or similar tool for testing web services.
  • Experience with application servers/containers such as JBoss, Tomcat or similar applications.
  • Basic Bash and SSH experience on RHEL.
  • Experience utilizing continuous integration and deployment tools.
  • Experience working with relational and NoSQL data stores.
  • Experience with JavaScript and Ajax, Angular, React, or Spring / Spring Boot
  • Experience with ORM (Hibernate, JPA, other).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity automating business processes and/or rules through use of technology.
  • Experience working with JIRA, Bamboo or Jenkins, Bitbucket (Git), Confluence.
  • Security clearance.
  • Experience working with Eclipse, IntelliJ or similar IDE.
  • Docker, Kubernetes experience.
  • Web accessibility knowledge.

The successful candidate is subject to a U.S. Federal Government background investigation, must be able to meet the requirements to hold a position of public trust or higher and must reside in the United States.

As a federal contracting company expected to fall under the Safer Federal Workforce Task Force (https://www.saferfederalworkforce.gov/faq/contractors/), AFT requires that all new employees be fully vaccinated (two weeks after final dose) against COVID-19 before their start date.

Pay Range: $75K - $100K

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
