POSITION DESCRIPTION: Our Otis World Headquarters Communications team is seeking an experienced, talented and creative content writer and marketer to produce engaging, on-brand copy to promote our brand, people and values, products/services and business critical programs, specifically focused on environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives and reports.* As a Senior Copywriter, you will report directly to the Senior Director, External Communications & Public Relations and work across our Communications centers of expertise (Internal, External, Brand/Creative and Social Impact) as well as partner closely with functional peers including Investor Relations, Sales and Marketing, Operations, Human Resources and more to write and deliver high quality informational pieces that resonate with our audiences, pique the interest of our colleagues and customers and boost awareness of our ESG initiatives and progress. Our ideal candidate must have a high degree of professional maturity, be an influential voice and a strong writer able to listen, learn, educate, engage and advocate through storytelling to our key stakeholders including; investors, shareholders, colleagues, customers and surrounding communities. The Senior Copywriter will take time to research, understand and adapt his/her writing style to reflect the Otis business, vernacular and style/tone. He/she should be able to flex their writing style, pivoting between long and short-form copy (ESG and/or Annual Reports, case studies, social campaigns, etc.) and adjust copy and messaging to accommodate audiences on various platforms; website, company intranet, social media and other channels.
  • The Senior Copywriter will support the writing and content creation for future Otis ESG Reports and Annual Report letters.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Tell us “why”, not just the “what” – write messaging and content for multi-channel use, understand what makes a good headline followed by conversational, “real” and compelling body copy
    • Write and update content for Otis.com based on priority company initiatives, campaigns and programs
    • Write/support copywriting for critical corporate assets such as Annual Report letter, ESG Report, and other high visibility pieces
    • Write/support copy development for social campaigns (paid and unpaid)
    • Write/support video script messages and writing
    • Write/support development of internal and external contributed content; e.g. case studies, executive leadership articles, other
  • Get steeped in Otis, understand our role in moving the world, dig into our products/services, environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals and programs, culture initiatives - message them effectively
  • Evaluate and continue to build our Otis brand voice – educate/train teams to use brand voice guidelines
  • Review project briefs, ask questions, align content recommendations to meet objectives
    • Conduct necessary research/fact finding via calls with internal subject matter experts, external sources, and others as necessary
  • Collaborate with other Communications CoE team members to create cohesive, integrated communications and help make our quarterly content strategy come to life
  • Dive into the details, making sure each piece is accurate, aligned to strategy, on time, and legal and brand compliant
  • Multi-task and manage various projects keeping track of stakeholders, reviews and deadlines
  • Be a trusted writing and copy expert for our partners, providing necessary insights, expertise and oversight.
  • Engage in simultaneous projects from inception to completion.
Specific to the ESG Report/Annual Report letter:
  • Transform disparate pieces of information into cohesive narratives that align with functional needs, style/branding guidelines, and external ESG reporting requirements
  • Evaluate source material and determine how best to convey complex information clearly —whether as a background narrative, first-person message, feature story, sidebar, infographic, etc.
  • Contribute to planning report content and design and offer new ideas for how to approach content (as needed)
EXPERIENCE:
  • A natural storyteller with an ability to engage audiences and simplify complex messages
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofing skills to translate concepts into clear, concise, and compelling content (as demonstrated by previous writing experience in a corporate or agency setting)
  • Expertise writing short and long-form copy for a variety of platforms and stakeholder touchpoints
  • Experience with SEO keyword research; applying information gained to digital content creation
  • Familiarity with writing for social media;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, produce lots of high-quality content on deadline
  • Manage multiple, high-priority assignments simultaneously, in a professional manner
Specific to ESG:
  • Ability to understand, interpret and communicate business/ESG strategy
  • General knowledge of business strategy, financial reporting and/or ESG topics (climate change, workforce diversity, labor rights, ethics, governance, etc.)
  • Previous experience with ESG reporting frameworks (GRI, SASB, TCFD, etc.) extremely helpful, but not required
  • BA, BS and/or MA, MS in communications, advertising, marketing, brand management, journalism, English, or related fields
  • 7+ years of copywriting, communications and/or brand marketing experience
  • Experience working in the B2B space and/or familiarity with B2B marketing and messaging a plus
