SALARY AND BENEFITS:
The posted salary range represents the minimum to the midpoint within RVU’s compensation plan. RVU’s full compensation structure provides a minimum to a maximum range. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill, knowledge, experience, education, and credentials.
RVU offers a full benefits package that includes Health, Dental and Vision insurance, along with 2 weeks accrued paid vacation days per year, 12 accrued sick days per year, personal days, 13 ½ paid holidays and 401(K) match up to 7% based on employee’s contribution. A hybrid work model with remote flexibility is also available for eligible positions.

Primary Purpose: Works in the Rocky Vista University Writing Center, within the Department of Medical Humanities, to facilitate and foster curricular writing components and facilitate the development of written communication for various levels of stakeholders. Essential Job Functions:
  • Assist students in the creation of personal statements and application essays for residency programs, scholarship opportunities, audition rotations, and other opportunities
  • Assist students in the creation of Curricula Vitae (CV)
  • Assist students in editing of papers, articles, and publications
  • Work with the Director of the Writing Center to oversee operations of the RVU internal publication including the following duties:
    • Send out call for submissions on regular basis
    • Conduct initial review of submissions to ensure all required components are submitted and submission is of sufficient quality to review
    • Send submissions to appropriate topic/section editor in consultation with editor-in-chief
    • Guide the editing and revision process with authors
    • Assist in the publication process using Issuu
  • Actively participate in the education and instruction of medical, physician assistant, and Masters of Science in Biomedical Science students in the topic of thesis writing, critical analysis, and critical reflection for curricular writing assignments
  • Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and modification as a part of an ongoing quality improvement and assessment program
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Be able to instruct student on writing exercises, including the development of rubrics, coaching in composition, and the assessment of student work
  • Be able to advise students in the creation of personal statements and application materials for residency
  • Be able to edit personal statements, CVs, publications, and grants
  • Be able to support the editing and publication process for the RVU internal publication
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree or higher in English, Creative Writing, Journalism, or similar
  • Experience in editing papers and publications
  • Experience in and knowledge of the process of publication
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a Writing Center at a university
  • Experience in classroom teaching and an understanding of the educational process
  • Experience with publication and editing
  • Understanding of theories of reflective writing and feedback
