The role you’ll contribute:
The Lead Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of payroll tax and accounting information by researching account issues for compliance and by establishing quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting. The Lead accountant will review work of Payroll Accountants and Senior Payroll Accountants and take the leading role with special projects, including leading the efforts related to process improvements and system enhancements. This Lead Accountant actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
- Provides leadership and support to Payroll, Payroll Accountants, Senior Tax Accountants, and the Finance Shared Services Accounting Department to ensure all processes and payroll accounting entries are accurate, including recording of cash funding and accounting transactions, ACH reversals, ACH deposits, ACH returns and payroll adjustments for multiple business units in a shared service environment
- Assists manager in ensuring tax compliance and accounting standards procedures, including tax adjustments and journal entries are complete efficiently
- Monitors and reviews the reconciliation of the transactions taking place between payables, general ledger and payroll and guides the team in making appropriate adjustments within the system
- Assists with review of financial data, classification of transactions and reporting
- Troubleshoots issues, communicates, and escalates as appropriate
- Assists with training development and delivery for end users
- Assists the Payroll Portal training for new facilities end users
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by tracking emerging trends in tax compliance, accounting shared services management, attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and benchmarking state-of-the-art practices
- Achieves superior customer satisfaction working directly with internal and external customers, including company-wide C-suite executives as appropriate
- Leads and supports continuous improvement processes within the Finance Shared Services Payroll Accounting team, including analyzing metrics and identifying needed system modifications and process changes, participating in the design, testing and approval of such modifications by working with other shared service, iSynergy, facility and Corporate Finance teams
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent degree from a four-year accredited university or college
- Minimum of five years of accounting experience
Preferred qualifications:
- CPA
- Experience in a shared service or healthcare organization
- Proficiency in PeopleSoft
