ABOUT THE ROLE As the GENERAL LEDGER (GL) SENIOR ACCOUNTANT, you will be responsible for GL functions including asset and liability reconciliation, consolidation, process improvements, and policy development and documentation. - Be responsible for accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close procedures for certain key balance sheets and income statement accounts (including preparing and/or reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and flux analysis), and coordinating the preparation of monthly management reporting packages. Key areas of responsibility will include such as fixed assets, capitalized software, prepaids, leases, and accruals.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with various organizations within the Company, including Operations, FP&A, Legal, and IT, to support the accounting close process.
- Assist in system and process optimization projects within the overall record-to-report process to drive operational efficiencies and advance our mission to make the shift from a transactional to a transformational Finance organization.
- Support the GL Accounting Manager in enhancing the Company’s existing accounting procedures and SOX controls. Seek and execute opportunities to improve accounting operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Prepare audit schedules requested by the auditors to support our quarterly reviews and annual audit.
- Assist and prepare internal management reporting documents to support company decision making and analysis.
- Support for ad-hoc projects as appropriate.
- Have a Bachelor's degree with a major or in Accounting or Business Administration with an Accounting emphasis.
- Have 4-5+ years of work experience. CPA and large public accounting firm and GL experience is preferred.
- Bring excellent technical accounting skills with a detailed understanding of current GAAP standards.
- Possess a strong analytical mind and are comfortable juggling multiple tasks while meeting hard deadlines.
- Are highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Are excited about building and refining processes and controls, and possess a good understanding of SOX requirements.
- Are a team player and have the ability to work independently.
- Are self-motivated, deadline driven and result oriented, a problem solver with a can-do attitude with strong teamwork skills and strong desire to drive changes.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout the Company organization.
- Are highly skilled in MS Excel (pivot tables, Vlookup, etc.) and the ability to quickly manipulate and analyze large data sets and build reports. Having experience with Oracle GL and reporting is an asset.
