Web Applications Developer is responsible for maintaining and enhancing HSLS’s online presence and associated technologies. The position requires an independent, self-motivated programmer who can research, install, configure Drupal modules and develop custom Drupal modules to expand HSLS’s web capabilities while ensuring all new functions meet or exceed HSLS organizational needs, Pitt security standards and are 508 compliant. The position will work closely with the Knowledge Integration Librarian to configure and test new services and upgrades to existing systems. The Web Applications Developer will possess strong programming and coding skills with knowledge of Linux/Apache and Windows servers, SQL, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Symfony and Solr; the ability to learn new languages and tools is also vital to continueddevelopment. Additionally, the Web Applications Developer is responsible for leading HSLS’s 508 compliance and other technology accessibility issues and distributing this information to content owners.

A sincere interest in technology as well as the ability to research emerging technologies,participate as part of a team in planning, development and implementation of complexcomputing solutions in a continuously evolving environment and excellent problemsolving skills are essential. Occasional involvement in support and maintenance tasks schedule outside of the 8:00am-4:30pm business hours is required. Position is hybrid/remote.


Bachelor’s Degree in Information Science, Computer Science, or other related field.Previous Digital Library development experience. Technical qualifications: Drupal, Symfony, Solr, Linux/Apache servers, SQL, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
