Duties & Responsibilities

Ranking 1
Job Duty Express the university brand through clear, persuasive, compelling copywriting; create original works for the purpose of accomplishing specific business objectives, including conceptualizing, writing, and/or editing (to include writing original copy, rewriting portions of client-prepared copy, or editing client prepared copy for content, tone, style, grammar, completeness, institutional messages and identity, harmony with communications plan objectives, and state and federal regulatory compliance); adapt writing appropriately depending upon media (Digital, print, social media, and scripts, for example); execute a wide range of styles depending upon intended audience, and tailoring copy appropriately for various external and internal audiences.

Job Duty Lead or serve on creative teams comprising project managers, graphic designers, marketing specialists, videographers, photographers, academic leaders, student services specialists, vendors, and others to develop or provide original content for digital and printed media or publications, social media, CRM communication flows, websites, phone scripts, direct mail, video, radio, internal reports, PowerPoints, and more.

Job Duty Work with a variety of individuals throughout the university to identify and write interesting stories about students, faculty, and alumni; coordinate with other team members on how to best tell these stories.

Job Duty Conduct research and interviews with internal and external sources in support of writing projects; communicate appropriately and effectively with university staff and with external stakeholders; ensure the accuracy and integrity of all content produced.

Job Duty Exercise independent judgment, critical thinking, and excellent communication skills to consult with colleagues on how copy can support enrollment goals and university messaging; promote a storytelling approach.

Job Duty Manage multiple and competing priorities to ensure timely delivery of critical projects; requires an understanding of how projects relate to the broad strategic goals of our division, the university, and academic departments; monitor and adhere to project production schedules; communicate routinely and thoroughly with supervisor and others about work progress.
