SOCIAL MEDIA & MARKETING ASSISTANT

Lilacs on York Creative Studios is hiring a Social Media & Marketing Assistant to help us build brand awareness and consistently show up online with content reflective of our values and impact.

Lilacs on York Creative Studios exists to support equity-centered individuals and organizations in telling compelling stories, finding and engaging human connections and generally being their best. Lilacs on York was formed in 2010 as a project focusing solely on graphic design. In the ten years since then, the full-time work of our Founder/Principal, Alison K. Mason has grown the scope and capacity of this boutique design and communication firm. We cater our work to equity-centered individuals and organizations because it gives us the opportunity to draw the right people into the critical work that the world needs: beauty, access, and justice. We work with clients to craft beautiful, distinctly personal solutions… solutions that move them forward.

We do this via three main avenues:

  • Graphic design & communication strategy (branding & design, visual & written storytelling and communication strategy)
  • Creative Retreats for Entrepreneurs
  • Digital learning products

WHERE YOU FIT INTO THE PICTURE

We are a growing agency of designers and communication strategists with big visions for how we can support equity-centered organizations and entrepreneurs. We want to reach a broader audience and that’s why we need you! The SMMA provides essential support to the overall growth of Lilacs on York.

Location is flexible, however, the ideal candidate would work on a schedule consistent with either the Eastern or Central time zone.

We want someone who is passionate about great storytelling and who is also willing to apply critical thinking to every step of a project. We are looking for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit who wants to join the organization in on the ground floor of a growing business.

This is a part-time contract role that will report directly to the Founder/Principal. We are looking for someone with a knack for social media who would be open to working with Lilacs on York for 1+ years.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Use provided vision and brand guidance and create graphics and templates for Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, IG Stories and TikTok via GoDaddy Studio and InShot
  • Manage our social media content calendar
  • Scheduling social media posts via FB Creator Studio and posting/engaging in the native apps when necessary
  • Repurposing existing content to create additional social media content
  • Write standard operating procedures (SOPs) for new social media systems that you develop
  • Track weekly time via a time and task management platform, like Hive
  • Review social media analytics and make suggestions to improve our overall social media strategy
  • Suggest new content, campaigns, and or strategies to increase our engagement with our audience

REQUIREMENTS

  • Consider problems to be opportunities to be creative but also think ahead to avoid as many problems as you can

Meet these technical requirements:

  • Have access to a computer and reliable high speed internet
  • Expert copy editor and writer
  • Keen design aesthetic

SOFTWARE PROFICIENCY

  • Google Docs
  • AirTable

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

  • Knowledge of English writing techniques, tools, and principles
  • Creativity and originality
  • Fluency of ideas
  • Writing/Advanced copy editing
  • Confident in your ability to critique and edit in service of storytelling

COMPENSATION

The pay rate for this position is $25-$35 per hour for up to 40 hours per month. The ideal candidate for this position will be hired as a contractor.
