Cyber Security Architect 🔥
Maveris is looking for a talented Cyber Security Architect to join our team supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs. The ideal candidate for this position has a diverse technical background and isn't satisfied to simply know something works; they are eager to understand the 'how' and 'why' of a solution. The duties of this role include staying abreast of new technologies, providing analytical reports based upon solution comparison, serving as a point of contact for vendor engagement, gap analysis for current technologies, and offering thought leadership and technology consulting to the customer. In this role the individual will work directly with government officials within the team as well as facilitate engagement of government entities throughout the organization. The candidate for this position should be comfortable providing leadership and strategy on organization-wide initiatives.
The selected candidate will take part in network and cyber security initiatives through proof of concept, development, and deployment within the architecture. Current efforts the candidate is likely to to participate include, but are not limited to Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR) , and Cloud Migration. The candidates role in these engagement is to provide a breadth of IT and security knowledge to assist in the development and architectural implementation of these initiatives.
We are looking for a someone who is highly inquisitive and who has an internal drive to understand how things work. Must be a thinker, must love to read, and research. Must be able to operate under very general guidance and take ownership of his or her tasks. The work products of the team are written documents including executive summaries, comparison matrices of technology features, requirements documentation, white papers, and informal reports. Research tasks span all areas of Information Technology. The candidate must also have communication skills allowing him or her to interact with other contractors and government personnel efficiently and effectively. Candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to produce a polished written work product suitable for an executive audience. A 1-2 page writing assignment will be given as part of the interview process.

Understands and can clearly articulate:
- Computer networking concepts (e.g., the OSI model, the function and purpose of routing protocols, IPv4 and IPv6 concepts)
- Security tools: SIEM, EDR, CASB, SOAR, NTA, etc.
- Information security concepts (e.g., PKI, TLS, email security)
- Cybersecurity concepts (e.g., threat hunting, cyber threat taxonomies such as MITRE ATT&CK framework, incident response)
- Information security policy concepts (e.g., RMF, CSF)
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline is required
- 8 years of relevant experience; Additional years of experience can be used in lieu of a degree
