Accounting Manager 🔥

Wag! is seeking a highly motivated Accounting Manager to join a best-in-class team. You will report directly to the Assistant Controller and work with a first-in-class Accounting team and a wide variety of cross-functional teams to contribute to our continued future growth. The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of US GAAP, proficiency in finance & accounting systems, and experience in consolidated company-wide financial reporting. They will possess strong analytical and communication skills and demonstrate the ability to work effectively with key stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

The Accounting Manager will play a key role in driving superior performance of the accounting/finance team in a fast-growing company by assisting with the following:

  • Lead accounting close for month, quarter, and annual close process
  • Participate in the full-cycle general ledger financial close process and related activities to ensure completeness and accuracy following US GAAP
  • Own complex areas of accounting: e.g., revenue recognition, consolidations, equity
  • Work closely with members across the Finance, Accounting and Legal teams, as well as other cross-functional business leads in ensuring the accounting policies & procedures are published and updated
  • Drive financial statement and cash flow budget and forecast as well as budget and forecast models, including analyzing financial data and trends to create analysis
  • Monthly and quarterly board and committee reports including key performance indicators and other performance metrics.
  • Support the growth and expansion of new product offerings, acquisition integration and new initiatives globally
  • You will partner with peers and other teams to understand inputs and assumptions that serve as the basis for our GL entries
  • Analyze and communicate complex accounting topics to your manager and team, taking ownership of your assigned areas
  • Key contributor to the quarterly reviews and annual financial audits with external auditors
  • Assist with technical accounting research and the preparation of accounting memos / policies and business process documentation as needed
  • Support the preparation of financial statements in conjunction with the external reporting team
  • Drive SOX processes, key controls, system improvements within the organization, and assist with or be responsible for other duties and ad-hoc projects
  • Participate in other special projects and ad hoc analyses as needed
  • Provide training and mentoring to junior staff

About You

  • 5-8 years of finance, accounting and/or reporting work experience, including Big 4 public accounting experience with audits of public company financial statements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field required
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent qualification
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, extensive experience researching and evaluating technical accounting matters
  • Experience using Netsuite, Bill.com, Expensify, SoxHUB is preferred
  • Proficient in GSuite and Excel with prior experience with financial reporting and planning tools, strong analytical skills and attention to details (maintaining complex spreadsheets and employing complex formulas).
  • Possess strong team management skills, including creating and executing a vision for team development and remote-office engagement, including the ability to run things to resolution

  • Experience in gig-economy and technology companies and/or a 2-sided marketplace is a plus
