Job Description
Education, Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • Construction industry experience required
  • Should have 4+ years proven experience as an accounting manager or controller and 2+ years managing team of 3+ accounting professionals
  • 2+ years’ experience interacting with Executive teams or business owners is highly preferred
  • Expert GAAP knowledge
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills working with various office equipment, computers and programs including databases, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel
  • ERP experience required (Sage 300/100/50, NetSuite a huge plus)
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS MAY INCLUDE:
  • Client Management – Proactively identify client needs ensuring client expectations are exceeded on a consistent basis. Conduct on-going process improvement and appropriate follow-up activities to guarantee issue resolution. Successfully on-board new client engagements.
  • Process Improvement – Develop and improve current policies and procedures to ensure the team is motivated, fully utilized, and maintaining efficiencies and productivity.
  • Financial Statement Review – Review and analyze Client’s Monthly Financial Reports, Budgets, Tax Organizers and special projects for accuracy in a timely manner.
  • Team Leadership – Lead, guide and support team of client associates. Ensure clear expectations for performance are set and met, regarding client expectations, accounting functions, and client service and other duties as described.
  • Employee Development – Train, develop and coach staff to ensure team members’ professional growth and success as well as the success of the organization.
  • Resource Management – Prioritize and coordinate staff projects and workload to ensure team utilization metrics are consistent with set goals. Additionally, ensure division financial objectives are met or exceeded by forecasting requirements, preparing annual budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective action.
  • Business Development– Build meaningful relationships through networking with business professionals such as CPAs, Bankers, Wealth Managers and Attorneys.
Within the first 90 days and going forward:
  • Leads and manages 4+ client engagements and interaction without management involvement
  • Develops strong relationships through proactive communication, thorough financial analysis, and identifies potential obstacles and new solutions
  • Consults all assigned clients for budgets, forecasts, and broader knowledge of financial operations
  • Ensures division financial objectives are met or exceeded by forecasting requirements, preparing annual budgets, scheduling expenditures and analyzing variances
  • Coordinates advisor activities by providing information to CPA, bankers, attorneys, regarding taxed, legal issues and insurance
Within the first 6 months and going forward:
  • Leads and manages 5+ client relationships at one time and oversees 1 accounting manager and 3-5 client associates
  • Is highly utilized, billing at 90%-100% to clients
  • All clients are giving positive feedback and are happy and feel taken care
  • Trains, develops and coaches staff to ensure team members’ professional growth and success
Within the first 12 months and going forward:
  • Proven ability to manage as many as 8 client relationships through development of strong relationships, ensuring proactive communication, thorough financial analysis, and identifying potential obstacles and new solutions
  • Has taken over full management of the team and office
  • Frequently contributes to Plumb team by bringing new ideas to the table that add value to the organization with solutions and shares collection of client feedback
